    Missing Old School MMO Communities

    Hey guys,

I just recently started playing this game about a month ago or so and I am absolutely loving it. But as I'm sure we can all agree an MMO by yourself is only fun to an extent. However, in recent years of playing MMO's I've felt like the communities have gone downhill in the sense that there doesn't seem to be much of a connection between people, and everyone is obsessed about being the best or grouping up with the best just to try and rise up to the top. I can recall the good old days where you would log in to your favorite MMO and just hang out with buddies doing random activities and fooling around for hours on end, and there was an actual sense of "community". So I'm writing this post in hopes of finding genuine people or an FC who feels the same way and would like a new buddy for adventures.

If anything I said interested you please leave your thoughts and/or some information about your FC below, and please don't respond if you're simply trying to grow your FC ranks.

    Hey TwoScoops!

I totally understand your nostalgia feels. I played FFXI back in the day, and your reputation on your server, and who you chose to associate with/what linkshells you chose to join mattered. It was extremely different than the duty finder community we live in within modern MMOs. I don't think there will ever be a way to turn back the clock for a whole game, but for several years now my friends and I have made it our effort to bring that community aspect to our little corner of whatever game we happen to be playing, and you'd be welcome to join us! I feel like Ashes of the Phoenix might be right up your alley!

I'd love to talk about what you're looking for, I'll watch for you in game! or you're welcome t o join our Discord if you'd like to chat!

Regardless, good luck in your search! Hope you find your forever home!

-Ren Delacroix, GM of Ashes of the Phoenix

    Greetings TwoScoops,

You might be our type of people!

But to be upfront, we are on another server, Midgardsormr.

If that doesn't scare you away, check out our FC page and charter to see if you jive with us: http://www.sygnus.org/kom/

Either way, I sincerely hope you find the Free Company and type of fellows that you seek!

    Take care,
    -Vix

I'm totally with you with missing the community feel in MMOs. As much as I love FFXIV, one of the things that is disappointing is how quiet and empty the world feels. Perhaps it's just our server, but most cities are barren and Idlyshire (Did I spell that right?) is full of people queueing in DF/PF. I miss the old days where you actually had to talk to people to form parties for dungeons or raids. I miss partnering up with random players to complete quests in the area and working together to achieve things. The closest thing we have is doing FATEs but no one runs those.

I'd love to see more community events even if it's player created. Like I've heard stories of some servers hosting parties, game nights, fashion shows, etc...I think there's one with a maid cafe. Granted some of these types of things may require a bit of RPing but they're still cool ways to get to know your fellow server mates!
