Is Chocobo fledgling gender truly random?

I have been through 25 coverings with the below Parentage stats, just trying to get a female child who inherits the 4* Speed from the father.

According to the understood rules of inheritance, there's a 25% chance of this happening: 50% chance for the child to be female, and 50% chance for that child to inherit the father's 4* Speed.

For me to go 20 straight coverings without getting that female child is 75%^25, or about a 0.07% chance. I understand RNG is RNG, but I'm starting to develop doubts that the fledgling gender is truly random (not to mention growing tired of re-leveling chocobos to attempt this again).

Am I missing anything?

Well, you only have a 25% chance to inherit the speed, not 50%. The 4 choices for speed (from those 2 parents) are 4-3-3-3, so a 25% chance for it to be the 4 star you want, not 50% (and then a 50% chance for the correct gender on top of that).
