I actually got talked down to for DPSing.

I was running leveling roulette and was doing the usual when the tank pulled more than we could handle. I did my best to keep everyone alive but alas we wiped. Then out of nowhere the bard has the balls to act like it was my fault. he literally said "little less barking orders and dps followed up by a bit more healing would be nice" my saying to group the adds and range lb them was apparently a hostile command.

I've learned to stance dance pretty well as a sch and this is literally the first time I've ever been told 'not' to dps :T

It has happened to me, it has happened to everyone I know.

Some people see you as the "healer" and for some reason think that you dpsing at all is an insult to the role of a DPS and an insult to the Tank since you aren;t keeping them at 100% 24/7.

Don;t stop DPsing though.

Occasionally you run into players who die unavoidably due to their own mistakes and immediately shift blame to others.

If they died due to a lack of healing while you were in DPS mode, they could have a point.

If they died because they failed mechanics and could not have been reasonably saved regardless of you being in CS or not, then they are just looking for an excuse.

I had a run in Dun Scaith the other day, running as SCH, in which the other healer was SCH too. The dude was playing as if I was a solo-healing WHM, and didn't even have Eos out (this is actually better in the first two bosses but vs Scathach and Diabolos Eos is much better than Selene imo). The point is... the other SCH was doing nothing except DPSing, and our tank kept MTing every boss. That wasn't really a problem until we reached Scathach. Of course, being Dun Scaith, everyone was taking avoidable damage and it came to a point in which I had to stop DPSing completely because everyone was either dead or taking damage by the thousands, the tank was eating shit, and the other healer was dead too.

I raised the other SCH to help me with raises (this was after everyone died AFTER I had already used the healer LB :'), and he kept DPSing to his heart content, so wtv, I kept solo healing.

At the start of the Diabolos fight, our tank has the audacity to ask other tanks to MT because "he was MT and both healers were DPSing."

Like, excuse me? Even if the other healer had been helping out, heck yeah I'm gonna DPS even if you're the main tank. Him whining about it, though, that was just adding insult to injury, since I had so very little DPS windows because everyone (including the tank) kept tanking avoidable damage with the face. I left the instance before he pulled Diabolos and left the other SCH to solo heal. A friend of mine was in the party, and predictably they wiped really fast cause I wasn't there to babysit them.

I felt bad about ditching my friend with a bad party, though :')

You should have gotten yourself "accidentally" locked out from the fight so you could have watched the world burn. :P Then perhaps could have continued with the party appreciating you much more...

Of course in group content I try to give people what they want (if it's within my capabilities) so that ended that practice.

I really don't think you have an obligation to start playing badly even when asked.

Happened the other day where we bit more then we can chew, couldn't outheal the damage over an extended time... and some wise cracking DPS thought it was needed to add his two cents about the healing.

I just responded "I'm only dpsing because killing the mobs have been unusually slow" and stopped dpsing the rest of the dungeon. Was untrue as I normally DPS but hopefully they got the hint I can see them spamming the same ineffectent combo throughout the dungeon

The community is quick to take any criticism or suggestion as a hostile critique and thus respond acerbicly. Even if such comments were not the intent, this is just how players are, especially in farm content. They aren't there to try, they're there to get easy rewards with minimal investment, and damn the wardens if someone's going to tell them what to do.

Just roll with it and keep going, get your tomestones, and never look back.

Please point out the part where I blamed this healer for causing the wipe with their dps. I don't mind, I'll wait.

Teasing aside, I haven't actually leveraged blame at either TC or the party they were with, as I have but one side of the story to judge, rather than the complete picture. I do wonder if you actually read what I said.
