Can we also get Lalaroes?
Don't mean to patronise you here, but:That's nothing more than semantics. Yes, technically Lalafells aren't children... but they look like children. That's why they go out of their way to sexualize lalafells as little as possible.
It's the same problem that TERA has... the Elin are quite obviously children and to make it worse are rather sexualized. Yet they think just saying, "No, no, no, they aren't children. They're hundreds of years old!" makes it perfectly fine. It doesn't.
"Oh won't somebody please think of the imaginary pixels?!".

And still one must understand as a business, controversy is never a good thing, the issues have been brought up before. Depictions of child like characters is enough cut onto profits if games and often requires more work than their worth (redesigning of gear, animations, handeling of press due to unneeded controversy, ect...) However you don't need to take my word for it.

excerpt:01
"There has been a lot of debate about the Elin race, which has been censored versus the Korean version. Can you explain what happened?
Lucile Le Merle: Yes. This topic has been discussed for about a year and a half now, ever since the Elin were announced at G-Star in 2010. There has been a huge amount of controversy because of the different ways Asian, Europeans and Americans see this kind of graphic content. The decision to change slightly the Elin armour was made with En Masse, the US publisher of the game. At first there was supposed to be a massive change on this race. We were supposed to add tights on every single one of them, but we knew there was going to be massive community uproar, and this is not what wanted for the game. Which is why we had a lot of discussion about it. Now, the models of the armour have changed, but only slightly."
excerpt:02
"In late April you issued a statement saying these changes were made because the Elin could have attracted to the game Unsavory users. What exactly does that mean?
Lucile Le Merle: It's a matter of point of view. We did not want to implement the Elins as they were in the original version because if you look at the forums and how users usually react to this race, it's either people offended by the way they look, or it's people trolling, saying, hey, I'm "pedobear". This is the kind of behaviour we want to avoid at all costs.
We know unless we removed the race entirely from the game, which would have caused an even bigger uproar, we could not avoid having such comments. But we wanted to reduce the amount of comments because some people are offended or some people have a different opinion.
You also say it's part of Frogster's responsibility to protect younger audiences from the unsavoury users. Is that a suggestion that there may be people who are attracted to playing Tera for reasons that aren't to do with playing it in the right way?
Lucile Le Merle: Exactly. Obviously just like any other online game, there are going to be people who will be on the game but not to play it. They are going to be child predators, harassers, people who insult each other. That's something we cannot avoid.
However, we have customer support, which is working very hard to ensure nothing like that happens. And especially in regards to the Elins, we have had a few users in the past who were doing, let's say, bad communication, running around with an Elin character saying sexual content. Those users have been banned because this is not the kind of attitude we want to see in the game."

One reason that's not being said: HYBRIDS EVERYWHERE. There would be people speaking out "my wanted hybrid combination isn't in the game!" Everyone always seems to focus on lalaqote, but personally I'd love to see an AuRa/Roe hybrid from Doma(Raen or Xaela is fine). Elezen/Hyur hybrids already exist, although there's only one that we know of.
Think about it from a dev's point of view. You spend 2 years working on a beautiful AuRa/Roe hybrid, and no one plays it. The only hybrids being played are Lala/Miq and Elezen/Hyur. So that dev time to all those other hybrid races were wasted. It wouldn't be realistic to say "oh, only Hyurs and Elezen can hybridize with each other, and only Lalafell and Miqote can with each other". Go all-in or nothing, and if the devs feel too many of the models wouldn't be used then it would be more worthwhile to spend that time working on other aspects of character customization.

Thank you. As for the second item, i would like to play a game that does not cater to those... "unsavoury users".
I would not be unamenable to the idea of slightly older variations Alphinaud 's and Alisaie's youthful stature, though that that to me is basically an Aura female (late teens, early twenties).
Because being associated with anything even closely to children pornographie or violating children isnt such a good thing for a buisness? What do you think would happen if people started posting pics and videos of clearly underaged characters in certain poses etc. (the male lalafell dead-emote was a real surprise to me - I can only explain it as terrible oversight)? So, people WOULD harm someone - SE - directly if they were allowed to play children.
Imagine the whole Haurchefaunt stuff with a child - or the flirtation with Aymeric (no one is going to convince me its something else!). Bäm! Just turned two heros into pedophiles!
And beside the whole sexual thing: a lot of countries tend to have a problem with violence against children aswell - and even when there is no blood in this game, it might be troubling for some of those to have a child as maincharacter, getting hurt and commit acts of violence.
As silly as that sounds as first glance: There is a reason you cant hurt children in most games. Funfact even: In the german version of one of the first Fallout games the children got simply removed because you could kill them and that would have proven to be a problem. Dont know where you're from, but germany is taking this stuff serious and I'm pretty sure SE would like to keep their 12 label.
And beside all the arguments to specifically NOT to introduce children as playable characters: It would require remodelling and we all know how motivated SE is to revisit the character creation and give us more options that arent hairstyles.
So, sorry, if you want to play child... go play Pokemon. Maybe you can get cat-ears as headwear by now?
