    Lotting Etiquette Question

Okay, so for some of you guys with multiple classes maxed, have you ever ran lower dungeons (on a lower job!) and gotten flak for lotting gear for your current job?

I just did a Temple of Qarn run on my 35DRK, lotted some heavy armor that was a nice upgrade, and then got chewed out by the NIN for lotting need on it when I have so many classes maxed. I explained that I kinda did need the armor - it was an upgrade, and if they want to guarantee they get armor for their tank from a dungeon, then they should come as tank instead of ninja.

I know, I know, lowbie armor. Such drama!

But I'd like to know your thoughts on it - I'm often out of the loop as to what norms are since every time I take a break and come back that norm changes!

I don't greed lot armor in lower dungeons or take anything i don't need as I do love to see people trying to level and getting upgrades, but my thoughts on it are it's often easier for me to need lot something if it's an upgrade as I don't necessarily carry a lot of lower tier mats for armor anymore.

Thanks for your time guys! :3

Nah you did nothing wrong. You may have just wanted it for glamour even, still fine imo. If you want to deffinately win a roll then you go as the job you want it for.

An upgrade is an upgrade regardless of what else you have... imo. Like, I feel they are (not you) 100% in the wrong here. I don't care if you were Yoshi-P with everything level 90 but DRK at level 35, you needed it so you roll need.. that's literally you using the feature as intended lol.

There's an entire thread for this discussion already, please use the search function before posting duplicates: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...n-of-Etiquette.

On topic: If you are the tank, you're prefectly entitled to roll Need on tank gear, even if you end up not using it. You brought the class into the run, so the loot is your if you want it, thats how the system works in this game. There's of course some player made etiquette, but if you read through the thread I linked, everyone seems to have a slightly different take on that.

Except that thread didn't quite answer my question - As per my original post, I wanted to see if level of other classes had anything to do with people's opinion.
If a mod thinks this thread is unneccessary, then they can remove it :3

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if I'd mis-stepped since I feel like things change a fair bit while I'm on my breaks haha

    Have a wonderful day!

That person will have to get over it.

You don't have to justify rolling need on dungeon loot. Ever. Even if you just wanted to feed it to the Grand Company vendor for seals. It's yours.

You have to ask yourself these questions:

1.) Are you participating in the dungeon?
2.) Is the need option available to you?

If the answer to both these questions are yes, regardless of anyone else's opinion in the dungeon, you should need. No one should ever make you feel bad for taking gear that you, in part, earned.

Often, I'll have a duplicate of an accessory that I blow up for desynth levels and then need on. It's a part of the game, and therefore fair.

People that come up with "systems" for dungeons or etiquette are just trying to gain an advantage over you.

I see no issues with it. You needed the gear, you got it. Fair and square. It isn't like they didn't have a chance at all to get it. Seeing as I've needed several things, and have lost the roll. So they can't be too upset about it. It is all chance either way, even if you get a boosted chance for hitting need.

This topic has come up so many times now, I'm not sure why players need to ask the forum for some sort of validation on whether they did something right or wrong. When it comes to lotting...

    See these buttons.

I couldn't find one with them lit up so let's pretend they are. If as the case of the original post, they were lit up...you have all rights provided by the game to lot on whatever the item may be. If some other player disliked that you picked "Need", there's that nifty little option to turn off the chat log and go about your business in the dutyfinder dungeon/raid/whatnot.

    Is it reset Tuesday yet.

I question whether I'm playing a PvE game with PvP mixed in, or I am I playing a PfG.
