Honestly I don't think the power gap will be that huge but I think we may underestimate him and I do think he has some form of power. Yoshi P said at the first fanfest we would 'learn how to fight him'. That suggests that we cant just directly but heads. I suspect there is a power he has access too. Hell, maybe his swords are a form of Auracite.....

Regardless he is definitely on the WoL's level which is where he needs to be. He isn't going to be a push over and the WoL is going to have to step up if he is going to be able to take Zenos.

I still get kinslayer vibes from him and I kind of still have a feeling he might kill his father. Still we have yet to see Varis so maybe he wont be involved.

Finally got to hear zenos' voice and I definitely liked it, it was well acted. But that quote got me like thinking, he says "only man had the wisdom and clarity to enjoy violence for its own sake." It really got me thinking, games nowadays really demonize people who enjoy killing others just to watch them die.

I just don't get it. After seeing Zenos and hearing what he had to say, not gonna lie, I really like the cut of his jib.

Well they aren't going to show ALL the cards, and in fact things like Y'shtola's grave injury are probably there to mask whatever spoilers will happen with those two. Omega atleast might not show up until the raid, and Shinryu almost certainly will as well but its still a fairly good point to expect one of them to wreck havoc at some point late in the story.

So like, haven't really seen anyone talking about this, but is anyone else curious about Lyse's weapon? An arm-mounted sword like that is certainly a departure from anything else I can recall seeing in the game.

I might've expected that the emperor's son would have some fancy toys.

I'm guessing his swords are probably powerful relics claimed back when Othard was first conquered, so naturally someone over there will know what can be done about them if they're making him that difficult to deal with.

In any case, I'm hoping we'll at least get to try to fight him in a solo duty or some such before he gets the better of us (For the time being), considering that almost everyone else seems to do the same.

Also, I'm remembering this now, but it sounds like they're using Nael van Darnus's theme, "Meteor," for Zenos. It's so underused I mistook it for a new arrangement of "Tempest" at first. Expecting good things from that boss fight now.

Having finally gotten the chance to watch it in Japanese, I'm pretty certain that - totally aside from the usual localization liberties - at least two lines are spoken by entirely different characters between it and the English version. Gosetsu's line about causes and battlefields is definitely occupied by a different character in Japanese, and I'm fairly certain the final line of the trailer is a different one as well. Is anybody whose Japanese is more at the FFXIV level able to give us a comparative analysis?

(I also want to say that "Tis better to bend with the wind than stand tall and be broken! Therein lies hope; therein lies freedom" is a different character too, but that's more my hope that that isn't Yotsuyu's actual English voice than anything else, as it's pretty obviously her in Japanese).

I really hope that there is some good reason for us to loose against Zenos other than "plot demands it". Yes we often go against primals and have an advantage thanks to the echo but the only thing it does is protecting us from the tempering. And the blessing itself might make us a bit stronger but even after we lost our blessing we still kicked ass like before and at the end we were able to defeat Thordan and his 12 knights, which were all very highly skilled warriors even without their primal form. We did this solo too. So we kinda are able to stand against 13 people simultaneous that are also high on many many prayers and yet we loose against Zenos? I mean we dont even fight alone, we have the scions and other people on our back too.

We also seemingly are spared by him since he wants to go against someone worthy? Isnt that one heck of a insult?

I can understand that it can get really boring to go against anybody and always win but for that you normally have some kind of power latter that you climb. For example if we saw in One Piece that Luffy is able to defeat a highly skilled Yonko and later looses against a common captain than this would be unbelievable (only acceptable if there is some kind of well thought out reason). Its on SE that they choose to let us defeat monsters like Thordan and Nidhogg in 3.0 already, so that in any way a defeat by a mere mortal is kinda ugh. Especially if its only one person.

So I do really hope that there is more to this scene. Maybe we are weakened through something beforehand (like drinking something poison like just to fuel our trauma even more) or Zenos is powered up by something. Or maybe we are finally protecting someone which render us helpless against an attack. (Or maybe Derplander should go back to being a dragoon, seems he cant handle his stacks)

Fordola is also quite savage. She just killed that old guy when his back was turned, so she really does not come over as a honorary fighter. (Strangely Zenos spares us because he wants someone worthy, yet she skills people that are not even facing her)

Nice to see a hint of Estinien, yet at the same time I fear for his life. There is only one NPC alive that I truly really like, yet I also care a bit about Estinien and his death would be sad. I am also afraid about Alphinaud. He was in some scenes in the other trailer but not in this one. He also protects his sister..I dare you SE..he is the last one of my true favorites..dont kill him off.

Maybe this sounds bad or something but I would not really care if anyone else dies. I did found the trailer a bit too spoilerish especially with Y`shtola, not because of her "death" but more because her shield breaking would have been a nice surprise in the game. IMO they should have stopped at her looking surprised before the shield breaks thus we would be kinda "D:" when it happens ingame. Since she is the mascot of this game I believe she somehow will survive such a wound..other characters would have probably been death after that.

(The wolf people and the primal of the snake tribe are those points that I liked the most about this trailer)

Don't you think that the initial battle against Ala migho, Zenos and Fordola that ends with that massacre could be a vision of the echo warning us? I mean, it happen VERY soon in the story (since at level 63 we have already reached Kugane and ruby sea - the new underwater dungeon is lv.63) and i don't think we'll have time to go across the first area of Gyr Abania, reach Rhalgr's reach, prepare the attack, go to The Lochs to start the war AND both fail the attempt and have Zenos/Fordola destroy the resistance in Rhalgr's Reach. All of this in less than 2 levels?

In top of this, those scenes looks a bit faded/greyed and the text "yet they could not see the sword above their heads" might hint at that.

I believe that the resistance losing the war is just a vision of the echo > We learn that Zenos is too powerful/his katanas hold some secret power > We travel to Othard in search of allies and information.
