Well now I feel dumb, the thought it could be some kind of intro to a main scenario solo duty didn't even cross my mind.

Not much more to add right now that wouldn't be repeating what other people have said, but I'm kinda bummed that the old resistance guy bites it so fast. He seemed like he could be an interesting character but maybe he has some more presence in the story through flashbacks.

Wait, so now we're sealing the other Student of Baldesion versed in Allagan tech inside something probably Allagan? Only the second expansion and they're reusing ideas already? :/

Seriously, though. I'm slowly finding myself falling into the Theodric camp. I'm starting to want someone to die: not as a noble sacrifice, but just to get f[kupo]ing murdered.

There's gotta be something up with Zenos. Remember that the Ultima Weapon was dug up from Ala Mhigo, so as boring as the secret Allagan trump card is getting (see: Heavensward), there's probably more to Zenos beating us than just really good swordsmanship.

I don't mind the theory that our character has a tougher time with mortal enemies but we shouldn't be getting completely trounced by a single Legatus at this point, which the trailer seemed to imply. A stalemate or Zenos having a slight edge due to some unknown power we weren't prepared for, sure (which might be what happens considering the glow on his sword). I dislike power fantasies as much as the next person but going from hero to zero is just as undesirable without justification.

Prior to this trailer, I always imagined Zenos will use ceruleum to power up his sword. But the dark/ purple glow we saw surrounding his sword didn't look like ceruleum, so it might be aether or magically enhanced. He might very well be one of the few Garlean pure-blood that can use magic

The Legatus are supposed to be the best of the best Garlean wise, so this one being an equal to us shouldn't be that much of a stretch. If anything if we just beat his butt every time not only would that totally kill suspense but would just have me asking why we don't just go ahead and invade Garlemald on our own if literally nothing they throw at us is ever a challenge?

The biggest issue is character bloat. I believe they've stated in interviews that they weren't sure what direction to take certain characters in - which to me suggests that a handful will inevitably be killed off, particularly if they wish to truly show the horrors and cost of a brutal war. I dislike characters dying for the sake of it, or doing so in predictable manners such as 'self sacrifice' but I do think there's room to get creative. As far as Krile goes, I quite like her. Next to Y'shtola she's one of my favourite Scions since they both have a level head atop their shoulders and they recognise the nuances involved in many of our conflicts. Still, a lot of what happened with them both in Azyz Lla is locked away in side story content and I'm fearful that rather than mention it in the MSQ's they might just...render both of them inactive for a bit.

I do think it's likely, too. Makes me wonder if his father also shares his capabilities - and his mother, too, if she ends up becoming part of the story. I'm banking on it being some sort of outside force in Zenos' case, though - perhaps Ascian meddling due to the hue of his blade.

    YEEEEEEAHH!!!!! GET HYPE!!!!!

Anyway. Since the Heavensward launch trailer showed to about the end of the first act of the expansion, I'd wager this does as well. It seems quite simple - we go to retake Ala Mhigo, and things are going well... until Zenos and Fordola step onto the field and crush everyone (the former moreso than the latter). Y'shtola will be grievously wounded by Zenos (or die for emotional torque, though that seems unlikely), after which we beat a hasty retreat thanks to him kicking both Lyse and our own asses as well. We then learn we need to go to Doma, perhaps to discover the source of Zenos' monstrous strength and to find a way to combat it, and naturally come into conflict with Yotsuyu before heading to the Azim Steppe and searching for Hien to get his support, then begin the war to liberate Othard in earnest. Beyond that, I can't guess, but since Shisui of the Violet Tides is an Lv63 dungeon, we have to be going to Doma / Kugane pretty early.

Fordola continues to intrigue me. Remember we're fighting the XIIth Legion... and there was a very important character in XII that was falsely accused of being a traitor and kingslayer... I wonder...

    Estinien returns!

Was that Righty, Lefty, and Vysage? Will Gargantua make an appearance? (Also Ixion.)

As for the Blessing not powering us up against Zenos... Ysayle lightly implied that unless we're up against a superhuman foe (i.e. Primals, Ascians, superweapons like Ultima Weapon) we don't have it active. That said, we were bereft of said Blessing and still took down the likes of Nabriales (who was able to bend freakin' time), so... yeah, Zenos probably has some monstrous power booster we're going to need to find a way to nullify.

As for the Ascians being involved, it was said they are going to have a background presence this time instead of stepping to the forefront. The entire point of what they do is that with just a little nudge human nature will take care of the rest for them - they probably nudged Solus zos Galvus into the "eternal conquest" mentality Garlemald adopted in its transition to an Empire, then sat back to watch the sparks fly. That's also part of what makes our mission nigh impossible - human nature cannot be changed.

That maybe the case, but us as WoL has fought and defeated not only supernatural, godlike beings but mortals as well. Notable examples :

    - Fought Gaius to standstill (arguably it was 8v1 battle).
    - Fought some of Heavensward knights in mortal form to the point they resorted to go primal but we still defeated them.
    - Defeated Regula twice. We had our allies at first, but went to beat him solo at second fight.
    - Defeated Raubahn in 1v1 duel (arguably he lost an arm, but it's still not easy feat).
    - Defeated Ilberd, a skilled mercenary on par with Raubahn.
    - And numerous dungeon bosses that's not outright voidsents or primals.

It is noted that us as WoL are stronger than a regular mortal even without the Blessing as Nabriales found out the hard way. We don't even need the Blessing's full power to fight and defeat primals like Ravanna, Bismarck and the Heavensward. The Blessing gives us an edge, notably from the danger of being tempered but since we can't use it fully or even at will, most of the time we fight and prevail with our skills alone, be it against mortals, primals or Ascians.

I speculate that the reason Zenos can beat us easily is because we're already worn out from storming the gate, and Zenos' appearance will likely come as a surprise to everyone. Seeing Y'shtola defeated/seemingly killed may also factor in it, since it's not the first time we get distracted from seeing an ally injured (cue Haurchefant).

That aside, I'm quite hyped with the preview of RDM new limit break, especially the two sigils shown when it's casted.

The blue/white sigil looks similar with current WHM symbol, but the red/black doesn't look like BLM symbol and I don't remember ever seeing it in game. Maybe it's the symbol of BLM during time of Mhach, or the city's own symbol.

And I guess we all knew Lysse would have something up her sleeve but I didn't think it would be a blade!
