    Doman and Ala Mhigan Soldiers

If Garlmald forces subjugated people to go fight in other countries, to prevent rebellions, how are we going to save those people? Sure we could liberate Doma, and Ala Mhigo, but what will happen to those people? Are we just going to abandon them? I'm curious as to what will happen.

If they're even in Doma & Ala Mhigo. They could be in other countries that are under Garlean rule.

Our goal isn't necessarily to save all the people, it's to regain the territory and remove it from Garlean control. Saving every single person conscripted into the Garlean army over the last 20+ years is probably pretty low on our priority list, all told, not in the least because we can't necessarily afford to make distinctions between Garlean troops (and indeed, this was never something that came up while fighting in Eorzea). Whether the game will call attention to this at all remains to be seen, but I can imagine the attitude is mostly "anybody fighting for Garlemald is a lost cause."

There's a soldier in Mor Dhona I believe that you can find outside the back gate who tells you that he only joined so his mother would stop nagging, and that he just wanted to play cards (gambler class when). There's another that's just sitting off to the side not caring that you're there. The fact that there's people out there who are like "eh" seem to me like they would /playdead. Not guaranteed to work but not everyone's a lost cause!

We'll probably have to cut down a fair number of such soldiers during the war.

The price of freedom is steep, y'know.

I think that's, tangentially at least, going to be the focus of the story arc surrounding Fordola.

Shes honestly the new character I'm looking forward to interacting with the most because of this. While all of them have pretty obviois expected flows, she has the largest amount of probable endings. Im hoping it takes a few patches to get a resolution on her story.

One thing people overlook with ala mhigo in particular is it's history. Ala mhigo for the most part had no real stability in the long term and could only really earn it's keep by hiring out mercenaries after Ul'dah bested them at trade. Ironically the ala mhigans got the industry they craved but at a great cost to their freedom, they essentially got dealt a monkeys paw. Those who fight for it may do so since there really isn't much to go back to in their eyes.
