Watched that bit a few times and I really don't see the mouths moving. Aside from the frankly terrible textures on the heads, the eyes and mouths aren't moving at all. The background guys have literally the same static expression (and copy-pasted face), while the leader has a permanent snarl with no sense of animation to it. Yes I see the moving tails, and they just look like the bushy miqo'te tail we've had forever. It'd be cool for another race of course but we have already actual beastly beastmen tribes.. why would these be so humanoid? "Teaser for playable race!" with those shoddy textures on the fur and eyes? I hope not.

Considering the way gear is designed, I would be pretty surprised if we ever got a non humanoid playable race. A playable wolf race would probably be similar to Miqo'te but with dog like features. Also Viera is more likely right now.

Honestly, I would welcome this as a real race, might be the only thing to change me from lalafell, however, even if it its just masks wouldn't argue with that either if it becomes an option for us. :3

That's was the point of my comment of "Just dudes with dog mask." Look at their battle stances, they're the same as the humanoid races. If it's a new beastman tribe...why in for god sake use the same animations as the current player playable races...

The same reason Yugiri in 2.X used a Miqo'te model and animations. Same reason why Alisae used PLD animations in 3.X but RDM now in 4.0. The wolves could easily just be a work in progress.

While we have had a lot of "this is a work in progress" touted around, and those ones being valid, its HIGHLY doubtful that anything in this trailer is a work in progress. More so since its all animations or cutscenes, not things like damage numbers.

Oh pish posh. Can't be any worse than what people are doing with the current races.

Anyway, if these do turn out to be a Beast Tribe, they'd be the first to actually wear mostly 'human' clothing.

Odd, they're wearing Garlean uniforms too - either this is a disguise, given the Empire rampant xenophobic anti-beastmen crusade, or this is indeed a new race, whether beastman or 'civilized' race.

Why am I thinking of Lone Wolf from FFV and VI though?

Perhaps the Garleans are taking a page from the Allagan book of crimes against Eorzea and have genetically engineered a beast tribe into low intelligence cannon fodder?

Ok so maybe Miqo'tes in masks. That would suck but would be interesting. SN: I think the texture and quality it many areas of that video is pretty bad sadly.

The Doman lady with the long hair + pipe had the new turtle beastmen rough up some hyurs in one of the previews, so I imagine this is another tribe she has on payroll.

Those textures though
