Guessing no one here plays D&D. Clerics are battle mages that do have a lot of offensive spells. Fun fact the FF1 White Mage is based on a Cleric, which is why they are proficient with hammers and maces and have better physical stats than Black Mage, based on Sorcerers.

Another fact the WHM in FF1 could equip the masamune sword and they could do pretty good damage if I remember right :P

No tossing out FF at all... I'm just saying there is a lot to gather from when it states cleric... do I think they should have a healing stance... yes I do but I also think they needs something for damage when they are in a smaller group and they don't need to worry too much about healing...

You're the healer (cleric). You're taking a stance that'll increase your nuking while sacrificing your healing. Why do you overanalyze everything?

Just so you know, the whole idea Cure = Undead damage actually originate from DnD. Clerics in DnD has both Healing to damage undead and Harm to damage living.

Cleric Stance: When I first read it I pictured my little lala standing up nice and brave solo against some big bad Ogre. So I took the stance part to mean 'not backing down' and in my head when I'm facing the big bad Ogre, I'm casting DD Magic on him, and not curing.

This being said, I can also see how others picture 'Cleric Stance' to mean a Healers Stance. Maybe they could have named it better but I hope my description helps a little.
