I think people are dealing to much in absolutes. It seems he's content is designed to be beatable without healers DPSing. Of course if you add dps, while maintaining the appropriate amount of healing, then that would be a more optimal strategy. Think of it like getting an A on a test, using healer DPS vs getting a C or B without, you still pass, its just that you could have done better. So if your healers can swing it DPS by all means, it creates a larger margin of error for your actual DPS classes to pass the dps checks, and increases odds of a clear, as long as needed healing is maintained.

I am not criticising what you are saying here but just wanted to point out that for WHM, sometimes standing there not doing anything is part of the plan to mana regen. WHMs have to be more careful with mana management than SCH/AST and when fights start to go worse than usual, more MP is expanded healing these... BRD/MCH aren't always available to help us all the time and our MP regens also have cooldowns etc.

not really white mage has assize and shroud. I use to main heal as2 with no brd or mch and managed fine...with holy spam.

Understandably I am more experienced but with new changes a novice healer will be able to comfortably keep up dots.

Idk i am mixed on the whole healers thing. While I like to say let people play how they want I know how annoyed i get when i see a healer who could be in cleric stance XD

No, we aren't. Go find me one post where someone has disputed that healing is a healers' priority. YOU may be talking about it, but if so, you are talking to yourself.

As it turns out this is not the case because people will votekick you for being lazy. Nothing short of blocking dps skills from being used in dungeons or a drastic shift in encounter design is going to get the community to feel anything other than minor disgust when they see a healer idling for 4+gcd's at a time.

Yep. It just doesn't make anyone happy when you see someone not doing anything for half the fight.

And then you have people promoting this behavior from a position of authority. There was a podcast with someone specifically saying "I think this is the way WHM is supposed to be played." I'm not going to post it here for obvious reasons. However, this is a response to what she said that podcast. Like, if the people you play with are cool with it, that's cool, but it's when you don't play efficiently with random people. At that point it's not just your time its 3-7 other people.

You are pretty much on the wrong end, my dear. If the dps side was the problem then CS would have just been made untoggleable in dungeons, but that's not what happened. They made stance dancing not a thing so DPS is easier.

You guys understand this kind of harassment is why we don't get parsers, right? If this goes on, one day Yoshida will just gut healer dps completely so people don't attack others over it.

Enforce your efficiency in a premade, expect the bare minimum role requirements in DF. Yes, healing is an easier role in this game if you just heal. No one said difficulty between jobs or roles will be fair or equal. I might not be happy when a run is slower because dps aren't great or the healer doesn't dps, but enforcing a strict meta on casual content is just going to create toxicity.

Toxicity that makes the developers step in to fix. And in this game, they will always side with the more casual players who are actually the majority (though the rude, indignant ones are a minority). Just be happy healers are overpowered and some can speed runs along, and stop worrying about some effort equation for the party.

I know we will probably never get an in-game parser or support for addons but you all are showing them exactly why they think we shouldn't. So what else will you all take away, because you felt you just had to tell someone they're not trying hard enough?
