Possible patch delay

and yet rift has a steadily declining playerbase, which says alot there too
im not ragging on rift saying that, but its also somewhat the industry standard for that to happen no matter how succesful a game is considered cuz it isnt a veteran mmo(you should see my stance/rants on why people play vet mmos and always compare to them, and keep going basck to them while they hate them with a passion)

Most MMOs do see a significant decrease in population after their initial hype, and population springs back during things like expansions, to my knowledge. News articles from as late as late November claim that Trion is continuing to expanding as a whole, so they can't be doing too bad.

I think I get what you're saying about vet MMOs, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's a significant factor!

Regardless, I still don't quite feel we've defined the industry standard yet. Got a busy week and a half ahead of me, but I'm not adverse to going through another game or two worth of patch notes.

Ah hah, so the "industry standard" varies by model. *Now* we're making progress toward defining it, even though we still lack specific numbers.

I've read each and every single list of patch notes for Rift. They *have* had six patches of content. 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5., 1.6... and that's not including a few significant ones that they had in between each of those. They're currently at, glancing at my list, nine major updates total since March.

So i just went to the rift site and check their patch notes none of them don't even come close to being the size of 1.18/9 or 1.20, but it seems they fuck up a ton of things between every patch constantly having to hot fix over 30+ things between version updates.

Usually i don't give a damn but a lot of you guys don't even realize how fast they go about patches and while they are working what is essentially an second game.

Well yes, but trying to recover from a botched MMO launch isn't exactly standard.

That doesn't mean it is possible to just magically do more in less time. The same constraints apply, only this time they work more against them.

Keep in mind that two games are being developed in parallel, and the quantity of additions still remains roughly on the same level as otherr MMO's. But that can only be achieved through a gigantic team of 250 people. It is hardly standard procedure as you said, and thus incredibly difficult to realistically compare.

It's a good thing that hasn't stopped us from making unrealistic comparisons though.

what would really get me is the question of how much content they are making for 2.0
something tells me there is alot being held back specificaly for it, and how much will be a huge selling point

the fact we are getting what we are til then is also a nice pace too
