the new translated updates say that it would possibly be longer and there is no set date just yet.
i've already posted the link
This is a forum. I'm allowed to express my opinion, as you're allowed to express yours. If you think the current situation with the constant delays is a good thing, then you're welcome to feel that way. I don't, and you should respect that I don't agree with you. I won't tell you to get over yourself for having a different opinion, and it would be nice if you returned the favour.
PS: According to Yoshida, as it stands, they have no ETA of the patch.
They have two scenarios; either the bug was fixed earlier and only needs to go through QA check and the patch can be deployed before the weekend. Or the bug is still there and will have to be fixed and go through the QA causing a longer delay.
skyrim's strong point is that it is an rpg with a ton of adventuring/exploration elements, and it also has an excellent progression system where you can play many different ways. FFXIV actually has very little actual adventure/exploration, sure the world was big, but there is by and large nothing to do in places you find, Initially i marked it up to a growing world, but it has yet to come to pass, and looks like it will continue to be the case until at least 2.0. As far as progression, the game has gotten a lot less varied, but i acknowledge that in an MMO people will generally always break even the most expansive of systems down to what does the most dmg and only do that, so it would be fairly hard to make a varied game that you could play anyway you want, when the community would just end up forcing everyone to play one way.
Other big advantage to skyrim, on pc anyway, will be user generated content, which will essentially take an already large world, and add almost endless possibilities to it.
In all honesty i was skeptical about what skyrim would offer, but after playing it, id say that making a game with such depth in exploration and adventure, that alone can make it a worthwhile game.
Id agree that the combat isnt pushing the envelope, but thats because its an rpg first and foremost, ultimately how you choose to build your charachter will deceide your battles, thats acceptable, in a game where you can build your charachter in almost anyway you want. All this said, skyrim has flaws and i could see why not everyone would be entertained, but if you dont like it meh just dont buy it, i think we can be sure of one thing, skyrim doesnt need your money anymore.
Back on topic, im not that mad at the delay, probably because im not as engaged as i used to be, but it is historically accurate to say that there has almost always been delays on every patch, and i wouldnt be surprised if it ends up pushed until monday. being so close to the weekend, there is a decent possibility.
i wouldn't be surprised if for 1.21 the first we know about it being ready is when the servers shut down for maintenance, that will stop all the complaining
P.S. check yoshi's update on jp translation thread (ty reiny) looks like yoshi is hinting at this happening for next patch
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
Comparing XIV and Skyrim is a pointless endeavour, the scenarios are completely different. XIV has a bad reputation and deservedly so, Skyrim is vastly overrated but still manages to be a decent product worth a playthrough. All this said, skyrim has flaws and i could see why not everyone would be entertained, but if you dont like it meh just dont buy it, i think we can be sure of one thing, skyrim doesnt need your money anymore.
There hardly exists a game that doesn't offer multiple ways to develop your character. Games with excellent gameplay systems and balance usually can offer three to four playstyles, and more with small gimmicks to set them apart. skyrim is no different except the gameplay sucks. being an RPG is no excuse for dated gameplay and an UI that manages to be lacking for both pads and keyboard/mouse.
Gaaaaayyyy i have the day off on the 14th.. Boourns!
Seriously? Popularity=Quality? That's what you're arguing...wow. That...is actually the exact opposite of how market segmentation and such works. Generic products for the masses, specialized quality for the niche markets.
