Seconded. I was hoping for an end-of-week release rather than today. This way I can get to sleep at a decent time and be able to focus on finals. Get off work early on Friday and BAM, all weekend to tear through 1.20.

Except that Yoshida said he will try to push it out during the weekend, if at all possible.

Well, the best solution (in my opinion) would be to give themselves more time. If every patch gets delayed by 2-3 weeks, then maybe they should give themselves 2-3 extra weeks to begin with. That way, if they manage to get it ready earlier they could release it ahead of time and everyone would be happy.

Standard business practice. Underpromise, overdeliver. Looks better for them and keeps us happy.

More careful with dates probably = not tell us until all testing is finished most likely.

So less information because we cannot handle it, and much more things hidden. Because people just do not understand how programing works, and think a set deadline in programing actually means anything.

yes this. i see a million threads at the end of jan. "when is the next patch" or "its almost feb, are we still getting a patch" and i see a million unhappy faces as we are met with silence

Every person who cries about the delays are just encouraging the developers to clam up more and more. At least in XI we didn't get our hopes up because they never told us anything...ever.

I know this. It's just that Yoshida instead of telling us they will work extra hard from now on to avoid delays, just plain admitted that he will be more conservative with release dates, aka pad them just in case delays happen or not tell us at all until the patch is 100%ready to ship.

I know it's the nice and honest thing to do, but we just don't do it, any of my bosses would have chewed me up real bad for that kind of wording.
