The gameplay hasn't progressed anywhere since what, Morrowind? I don't think these kind of shortcomings should go unnoticed. it's still a vidya game damn it. Plus, there is a lot more (quality) competition in the market nowadays. open world game is nothing special.

The UI is horrible in every way imaginable. All it needs is innate lag to be on par with XIV. At least XIV is not overrated.

Aside from the fact that loving or hating a vidya game is completely subjective, Skyrim had at launch, more quests, more interesting places to go, and more to do than FFXIV has even now after being released over a year ago. For a single player RPG to be able to do that in comparison to, what SHOULD have been, a high production MMO by a notoriously famous RPG company is pathetic. And I couldn't help but laugh when you said that the game mechanics of SKyrim haven't changed since MOrrowind mostly because the FF series is now well over 14 main titles deep and still follows the same "press x for everything" game mechanic. I certainly am not trying to tell you what games to love, and if you don't like skyrim, right on, to each his own. BUt the reason people are making comparissons is because it was still produced and released better than this title, which has been floundering since release.

I am a firm supporter of the MH but these changes were needed plus several more to come at a later date. Getting it right is the primary thing. I can wait.

Aye, one of my biggest complaints about Skyrim was that it felt like an offline MMO. I got bored after a while and felt like I should be able to chat with someone.

why compare a game fully finish with a game that fail making and being rebuild ? you do realize FFXIV is re-make almost from scatter right ?

you can compare skyrim with FFXIV when it have the new client at 2.0, that ll make more sense to compare a finish product with other finish product

actually seeing how an mmo is supposed to be played for longer than the 5-40 hours that 95% of offline games usually build content for, it should have more content than offline games, and other than ffxiv most mmos do in fact have more content than offline games, i would be surprised if stwor, guild wars 2 etc dont release with more content and exploration than ffxiv has even today.

Which is why I think it makes XIV look like a such a travesty. They are both RPG games that are meant to consume 100's of hours of time so I think there is enough similarities to compare the two. The fact that a single player RPG has more to see and do in it than an MMO is embarrising. One of the main reasons I loved XI was because there was litterally so much to do, you really didn't know where to begin. XIV has none of that right now. You essentially can choose between doing 5 things. They both have open world maps, yet skyrims is PACKED full of things to see, while XIVS open world has even been described as a ghost town by the very company that made it.

NO, I am pretty sure I payed the same 60 dollars for both games so I think I am justified in comparing them as is. Certainly I won't argue with you that they are remaking XIV, but the fact is they have left the servers up while they do so and soon will be charging folks like its a ligit MMO. My comparisson stands.

And my bad Griss, your right dude this is totally off topic. I would certainly hope to see details soon as to WHEN the next patch will be released. Here is hoping it makes it before XMAS
