um empty promises? Did they promise you something?A game has never gone under such severe repair as this one.
When you've lost your client's trust, the last thing you want to do is give them empty promises.
Every patch is like this, if it were just this one off time, it wouldn't be an issue.
Theres only so much delay's/empty promises people are going to endure before they grow impatient.

Two days delays, the world is ending.

It's not like we set the timeline. No one but Square Enix is in charge of it. There's no reason for them to set deadlines they can't meet. Back when they decided to do all of this a year ago, they should have planned it so that they were working a patch ahead of themselves. So that way when they release 1.19, they're actually finishing 1.20.it's because u never seen a game with dateline laid out for you 2 year before......... other company would simply keep it quiet until they finish the patches then announces maintenance date and you would never know if they delayed the patch or behind schedule because players are not expecting when it will come. Logic, can you have it?
That's why people get so annoyed at these constant delays. It's SE who decides when they should be released, and no one else. They should be able to meet their own deadlines. If they were smart, they'd have said 1.20 was coming at the end of December from the start. That way when they deliver it around the 16th, they look like heroes.
Good thing Square Enix consists of a bunch of super humans that are able to predict the future. Oh wait..
Just throwing it out there... Delaying a patch is MUCH better than releasing it with massive game breaking glitches. There were some good examples of this in FFXI. And some of the things in FFXI weren't even glitches, just untested in terms of balance... which ends up being patched with another maintenance a couple of days later, causing the servers to go down again unnecessarily after a patch was just released.
You all act like you'd rather have Square Enix keep us in the dark about release dates and everything of the sort. Guess what? WE WERE THERE. It was that way with FFXI for most of its life, and it was like that early in FFXIV's life. It was terrible. Now, at least we actually KNOW the patch will be out this month. We actually KNOW the progress on the path. Heck, we even got patch notes EARLY. That alone is a HUGE leap for Square Enix and their communication with the community.

Shit happens deal with it, they could tell me they was gonna delay it by 10 more day idc cause shit happens if you don't like it don't stay. Don't try to tell them how to plan a programing scheduled when your not one your self.
You cant reason with people with their head in the sand.
I am a Final fantasy fanboy as much as the next person still playing, but this forum is filled with people only willing to acknlowedge improvements.
Patch delays? Don't care.
Releasing a broken game? Didn't happen
SO we are... as it slowly slips away into the yesteryear and the game changes and because something more then it was when it started... though you probably wouldn't be happy until the switch everything over to the new servers and such will you? Until such time you will forever look at the game as what it was when it launch hmmm? I know what it launched as I know what it was like in alpha and I know what it was like in beta... I know what it is like now a good amount has change and a good amount will change as time marches on.
The problem for you me thinks is you dwell on the past a bit much... and you have a hard time seeing any good.
I am not saying it has all been flowers... and I am not saying it is super and wonderful now... I am saying things are looking up and they are doing what they can with what they have until the time they can switch everything over to the better... Can you look on the the future a bit with me Sephrick?
