Odd "Double Freeze-up" lag every so often.

I am having a problem on PC (playing with Comcast, Nashville USA); where, randomly, every few hours, my game will suddenly freeze; go to black screen after a few seconds; come back; and a few seconds later, will freeze/black screen/recover again. Then it will be fine for a few hours.

The whole sequence of freeze/black screen/recover/freeze/black screen/recover takes about 15 seconds and I never disconnect. But it can, and has, happened at inopportune times during instanced content and raids.

Aether data center; Balmung and Cactuar worlds.

System is an ASUS ROG laptop with Win 10 and GTX 980M graphics adapter.

Any ideas? Sound familiar?

I have had this same issue for a several weeks now. It even seems to try to shift focus to another window at times (& it's random what other window, or what else I have running at the time).

Speculation: You're playing Fullscreen and some other program takes focus away from your game and then instantly closes down and puts you back into the game, something like an update checker.

Check for any programs that are running when it happens from Task Manager or Event Viewer to look for culprits. You can also check Task Scheduler if there's any program that starts up and shuts down on it's own regularly.

It could also be a driver or hardware issue with your GPU.

Cant be a server proximity problem, because I don't experience lag or anything like this from Manchester, TN
