Holy wow. This level of aggression toward someone is not necessary at all... especially when SE's systems are frequently convoluted and not at all self-explanatory.The fault is only yours, and yours alone. If you had bothered to actually read what it said, you would not be in the situation that you are in now. There is no reason for SE to switch things just because you've failed to read the fine print (or any print for that matter).
I mean, it outright tells you that a chocobo below rank 40 can't be retired if you try to do it.
You also have to check a box to confirm it.
Don't deeply invest in raising chobobos till P9 or whatever.
Buy a converting ticket with as much stars you can, toss out garbage.
Basically you want to try at least have a 4 star in each stat by one of the parents, cross it with yours
Then you basically put the 4 star values together and get:
Speed: 50% 3 star, 25% 4 star, 25% 2 star
accel: 50% 4 star, 25 % 3 star, 25% 1 star
end: 50% 3 star, 25% 4 star, 25% 2 star
Stam: 50% 3 star, 25% 4 star, 25% 2 star
cun: 50% 4 star, 50% 1 star,
do it right and:
You where not screwed over you need breed and race again and again and keep breeding. Only bad part of this perfect chobobo (pure 4 star) is the inherited ability, wish there was a way to remove that or do less rng breeding so the perfect is not lost to race with
Just keep retiering them at rank 40 and keep breeding them to increase how strong they are. at p7/8 you should start strongly considering what covering tickets you get and toss out garbage if you don't have a chance to get 4 star in each line.
The person you are responding to has a point, the dialog explains everything, about when you retire it is the only way breed it and once you do it can't race. The TC simply did not read. If a noob trap is not reading I do not know what else to tell you.

I have to disagree. There is a pop-up warning that clearly tells you that you wont get breeding rights unless your chocobo is the correct Rank. It's not a trap if you read the warnings.
Well there is a reason to retire them early so I don't think it should be removed as an option.
After breeding a few chocobos and taking them to be registered if the first one rolled all the terrible stat options you can retire it to try one of the others instead.

No? Since definitive stats are chosen at the registering it is kinda useful to be able to get rid of a chocobo who got all the worst stat. Maybe you should have informed yourself and read the in game warning instead.
Any high-grade chocobo has the chance (fairly slim, but there) of learning a Rank III ability (their "Acquired" ability) at Rank 10, and at every rank thereafter as long as you keep using Lethe to erase the ability they learn. If both parents have a Rank III ability, as well, then their child will have a Rank III "Hereditary" ability.
Hence, two Rank III abilities. Breed from parents with Rank III abilities, and keep erasing your choco's learned skill until it gets a Rank III ability.
