Can we hypothesize about the little hidden gems in the Live Letter?

A couple of things I noticed during yesterday's Live Letter broadcast --

- PVP-wise there doesn't seem to be a Feast option anymore as we know it. Only frontline and "Coliseum" ? I wonder if the Coliseum in Ul'dah will be used finally?

- In the Actions and Traits menu, there was a new category for "Buddy". It was only there for a moment, and I can't access the video on Youtube right now, but it seemed to be separate from companion/pets. I wonder if this means we'll get to take NPCs on journeys with us?

Yes I did notice it. I screenshotted it too.


I've been hoping this means we'll get a npc friend like we did in 1.0... or it could simply be the menu for our grand company squadron, or we're getting other summon-able party members like the chocobos we have now.

I hope so. Otherwise it just means they changed companions( plural) to buddy( singular). Which would mean we dont get additional companions like the chocobos we have now.

That was my thought process because the companion tab is gone.

I saw that Buddy menue too!!!! I am hoping for something new for the Chocobo companion! Here's to hoping.

I wish we could choose the mounts we wanted to focus on for leveling various skills, instead of having a chocobo try to "be all things to all adventurers". I mean, imagine this --

- You train your war bear to be your tanking companion
- You train your magitek to be your DPS companion
- You train your goobue to be your healer companion

To help prevent the pay-to-win, you couldn't train mounts that you bought or won in primals to do this. So the ponies/birds/wolves couldn't be used, but class-specific mounts could, and maybe even Gold Saucer ones.

Of course that would allow for some pretty funny and odd companion traits. Unicorn tank!

Is it possible that in the Japanese version right now it actually says Buddy instead of Companion? Does anyone know?

With regard to the whole buddy thing...

I am 100% down with having husbando and waifu NPCs to fight alongside with instead of my lame horsebird. PLZ SE.

I wan Mog-kin so I can make him weed and water my yard, dress my character, and ride my chocobo as another companion :3. When you mount your chocobo with your mog out he rides with you

I dunno, it hopefully is a good sign that we have a buddy tab though
