Thought I would share a flaw with extended storage on PS4.

I decided to get Stormblood on my PS4 since the upcoming Pro patch will have it running better than on my PC. The only downfall was the terrible load times, so I decided to move the game onto an external. It's a Samsung T3 SSD, so I thought I should see massive improvements without having to go through the hassle of replacing the drive in the PS4.

Turns out that FFXIV has a unique problem in regards to moving the game onto an external drive.

It will only allow you to transfer 13.22gb of the game onto the external drive. The rest remains on the system, located under "other" in application data and is inaccessible.

I am not sure if Square-enix is aware of this since external drive support is fairly new but it kind of sucks that the majority of the game is stuck on the system.

That's odd I got a friend that has got a brand new PRO plus a 1T SSD and he transferred everything from a PS4 to a Pro without problem.

    Unless I misunderstood your post

That's a bit different. I am talking about just putting the game on an external hard drive. It only lets you transfer the base game which is 13.22gb and the rest of the 30ish GB remain on the system. I am guessing those are the updates and expansions.

I ended up just getting an internal SSD to put in the PS4 but I was a little disappointed I couldn't just use my external and avoid the cost and hassle of replacing the drive.
