LOTRO has a nice feature for this. The "Completed" section of their quest log initially starts with a summary of what you did in a quest, similar to what we get here. But then it has a button to show the rest of the details, and that brings up a window that gives all the dialog from that quest. I really wish we had that feature here, where some of the Journal entries leave out way too much of what went on.
(I was heartbroken after the moogle delivery quest A Debt Unpaid gave this fantastic info dump of background lore, and then I realized that that cutscene isn't among the special ones chosen for inclusion in the Unending Jouney. All that fantastic dialog that we only get one chance to see and then it's gone forever. I lost all motivation to continue the rest of the quest chain knowing that once done they're gone like that.)
I recall Yoshi had a laugh about this question and joked - "I have a solution. Make a new character!"
By that he meant if you wish to repeat solo MSQ fights such as the grand melee etc, then you can just make a new character...
I believe he did end with saying something like "it's not impossible"..
The problem - for me - with making a new character is not so much the making of a new character, I have multiple alts running the story through so i can experience it from each starting city point of view. It's more that I want to relive those moments using my main character Kosmos, so starting a new character is not a solution for me.I recall Yoshi had a laugh about this question and joked - "I have a solution. Hopefully "it's not impossible" means they are open to the idea. Of course I'm optimistically hoping it would not be a huge amount of work to create such a feature. If it was a lot of work, I doubt it would be practical considering all that they have on their plate. But I shall keep asking and remain hopeful.
There is an even easier mechanic to this. Simply have a "reset job/class" button (reset's job/class storyline,) and a "reset game storyline" (resets V2.0/V3.0 storylines) button. That undo's everything on the class but keeps the earned experience, it would just level sync (as it warns you anyway) in those solo instances. It would need to have a way to mark "reward already acquired" for reset storylines, but this is mostly a trivial thing, since you get a lot of rubbish rewards in the storylines anyway.I recall Yoshi had a laugh about this question and joked - "I have a solution. Sounds like a plan...make it so Yoshi-P.There is an even easier mechanic to this. Plus resets for continuing side-stories (like Moogle deliveries, or Hildibrand). And for the longer ones (MSQ especially) you'd need to be able to specify where you want it reset to. (Just because you want to replay some quests from 2.5 doesn't necessarily mean you want to repeat another couple hundred quests leading up to it.)
Maybe a better version of this would be the ability to reset any particular quest (where we could access the feature from the "completed" section of our Journal), and be able to repeat that one quest (but without its rewards). Then if it's part of a continuing quest chain, when we finish it we're asked if we want to reset the next quest in the sequence to replay it as well. At any given time, though, only one quest would be in this reset mode. That way, players could pick up at any point they wish and continue however long they wish, and it wouldn't have to be tied to particular quest lines, or unlock a whole chain at once.
I would really enjoy this! I just finished leveling an alt through HW and really enjoyed the Grand Melee, the battle with the Garleans in the Flagship/Warring Triad, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED the 50 DRK quest on my main. It'd be fun to be able to do again without having to go through all of ARR and HW just for them.
