Clearly, OP has no idea how video game development and PR works. Anything shown off on the trailer, live letter etc, was tagged with or mentioned to be "DEVELOPMENT FOOTAGE. SUBJECT TO CHANGE."
If they didn't bring anything to the table, we'd all be bitching why there was NO INFO...
This isnt just SE who does this either. ALL video game developers do this to atleast some degree. Nothing here needs to change except you, OP.
So far, SE has been one of the developers most forthcoming with info and they definitely listen to their fans, but they almost always collect feedback and deliberate on it before acting.

I think the biggest mistake SE has made so far with this expansion was the way the media tour was handled. They really should not have allowed video or pictures to be taken. (At least not in the way that it did.) I can say that the only video I've seen from the Media Tour was Mr Happys general video about his visit. And I seem to be hearing more and more rumors from people who watched all the other vids complaining about stuff. I don't go out of my way to look for that info, but you end up hearing it everywhere (i.e. Twitch, in game, forums). I've never seen such craziness where SMNs go from hype of Bahamut in the Live Letter to wanting to change classes the next week.
What I'd love to see happen is that everything that was seen from the media tour be just complete bogus data and people be pleasantly surprised when the game actually comes out.

The media was probably told the same as we were during the live letter (assuming any media missed it), but they needs their clicks and views...I think the biggest mistake SE has made so far with this expansion was the way the media tour was handled. As someone that plays WoW along with this game, I can only laugh if you think that this is what lack of communication looks like. The fact is that the FFXIV playerbase is spoiled if you honestly think SE is lacking in the communication department. A lot of other MMOs would give anything to have the kind of devs that work on this game. You have no clue what real lack of communication looks like.
As someone who plays WoW as well, I can say that Blizzard does a much better job at communicating with their playerbase than Square does. Just look at all of the blue-post responded threads on their forums vs here. They aren't perfect, but that was specifically what I was thinking of when I said that two-communication sucks here.As someone that plays WoW along with this game, I can only laugh if you think that this is what lack of communication looks like. What, seriously? I would actually use Blizzard and WoW as an example of excellent communication. Coming from WoW to 14, I was really shocked by the comparative lack of conversations the devs have with their players. As someone that plays WoW along with this game, I can only laugh if you think that this is what lack of communication looks like. Blizzard reveals all their upcoming changes to their playerbase months ahead of time and has conversations with them, their intention behind the changes, and what they may or may not be tweaking in the future and how they will tweak it. If information is outdated, they will immediately inform their players, along with giving them the current iteration of that information. If you ever visit MMO-Champ you can see just how much information they share every single day. Blizzard takes their transparency very seriously. 14's information may as well be locked in a guarded vault by comparison.
Now, are the changes Blizzard makes always good ones? Definitely not, but to say they aren't transparent about them is pretty far from the truth.
Community reps are a different issue though, and they're something Blizz and SE are pretty similar on. SE's US forums are the redheaded stepchild, whereas Blizz's EU ones are equally ignored.

Until they sneak stealth things in during the patches that players catch anyway (undocumented changes). The 7.2 undocumented change of mobs scaling to your level was very poorly received.

Amen. Complaints about devs and comments on how toxic this community is give me the biggest laughs![]()

Really? The info we get live letter is ego/fluff driven. The PvP section in WoW alone had more info and better communication in a patch then we have gotten since 2.0. As much as I hated that Crab icon from the dev team ( I don't think he ever brought good news) was solid explanation and reasons and response. As someone that plays WoW along with this game, I can only laugh if you think that this is what lack of communication looks like. The OP is probably just miserable whm issue. They have a bad example of poor communication. A good example is when SE takes weeks/months to respond to any in game issue. Oh like any time they have housing issues. Servers have a bunch of house flippers, lets wait weeks to even respond. PvP ques bad pretend they aren't until they are forced to answer. Give lore as first reason forced to answer a second time oh, players cheat. I could go on. The OP is wrong but the forum hero worship of this dev team is just disgusting. People worked to send some sort of birthday gift to dev. They probably don't even pay that much attention to their Doctor and they help keep them healthy.
