Character Slot Fee even for your first (only) character?

I still cannot see "unnecessarily complex" in this. Most any service that has a secondary part to it, that is price/per is typically done this way. You have to pay this, but you must add one soandso to use said service. For FFXIV, the base account is $9.99 and each character is $3. How is this complex? It tells you the prices right up front, and it's clear.

My issue here is that there should not be a secondary part in the first place - not for a person only playing 1 character at a time. The base fee for a game subscription should include the ability to play the game already in the base fee.

In other games I have played there was a one time fee for the software, followed by a monthly fee for service (which included at least one character in that fee). If I wanted additional features, characters, bonuses, or expansions, then there was an extra fee for those optional things. This was also true in FFXI.

the thing is its not being advertised as an "extra fee"

its being advertised as 9.99
amd whem you sign up its 6.99+ 3.00 per character


so they are advertising it correctly, but in the system it has you sign it up as an extra, but the price doesnt change

Then your fee, at normal price, is 12.99. How is this difficult? Is it because they explain how they break down the billing? I actually see that as better since they are explaining how they do it.

Basically it seems you want "Base Fee" to ALWAYS mean the same thing. If i'm not mistaken, in FFXI you could turn on/off character slots when you chose, and only paid for the ones you had on. It's the same thing, but instead of telling you how they do the billing they just say the "Base Fee" includes a character slot to appease you for whatever reason. It's the same. You know what you have to pay if you choose to play 1 or more characters.

MMM... I'm pretty sure FFXI when you paid your sub fee it included your first character slot so If I made "Hank" as my first character I always had to pay for "Hank" no matter what.

Each extra character cost 1.00 but I always had to pay for "Hank" even if i never played him.

No, you actually could have deactivated Hank and just paid your 12.95 for Sam, or 12.95+1 for Sam and Jill. You never had to pay for Hank, if you didn't want to play him anymore.
There was no first character included in the fee, there was only one character included in the 12.95 fee, which could have been in position 16 on the list.

SE should have never designed it this way, it only confuses people (and it will to future players im sure). What made them think not just making 1 character slot and an ID all one amount is baffling. Someone needs to get fired from whoever directs the payment stuff.

Now now Zanfire... you read these forums really look at most of the threads out there... now I am not speaking for or about everyone here but a lot of them get confused looking at their own shadow...
