Any news about crafters shared skills?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere and i'm really curious about it. With 'cross class skills' no longer being a thing and all skills being in the new Role category now, has anyone heard anything about crafter skills?

It used to be extremely important for crafters to level multiple Disciple of Hand jobs in order to get crucial Cross Class skills from the other crafting jobs.. This led to Omnicrafting being the most efficient way to gain access to all required cross class crafting skills. So.. will these skills now be shoved into a 'Disciple of Hand Role' category for us to pluck skills out of without having to level each and every crafting job to cap?

As far as I know nothing is changing with crafter cross-class skills. The only thing mentioned was that specialist skills were being adjusted to suck less, but no actual details as to how. If they are planning something with shared role actions for crafters, it may be announced in the next live letter.

How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?

I'm just going off of what I know/remember, but I don't think anything with 'cross role' has been mentioned about non combat classes, and I'm only guessing this, that the cross class skill thing '''''might''''' be something still for Crafting/Gathering?

I'm only saying this since there's a lot of items you've needed from other classes to make an item on your current class, causing people to need to level up multiple classes to not only make the items needed for other items, but for the essential skills.

There's 18 cross class skills in total for DoH classes just up to 50 right now, with each class only getting 2-3 of those upon level up. I'm not really a crafter, but those are the skills I remember.

They haven't mentioned anything about applying this to crafting. In fact, they said being a specialist would buff your cross-class skills in some manner.

Other than fixing the whole specialist system nothing else really needs changing honestly. Whats wrong with the current cross actions?

There's nothing necessarily wrong with the way the current system is. It's a lot of work, but the rewards are well worth the effort. I was just curious if there had been anything stated about crafters, since they did an entire revamp on the combat jobs shared skills. Just curiosity, no complaints here :P

Thank you for the useful information Aramina, I had forgotten that was even mentioned in the live letter. It's hard to keep up, what with the literal flood of information thats came out this past week. I'm glad they've made adjustments to the specialist system at the very least.

Q: In Patch 3.0 we had the Specialist system. Are there any plans to add new features for Disciples of the Land and Hand in Patch 4.0?
A: There won't be any new system, however, we have made various adjustments, which includes Specialist adjustments based on feedback we received.
    0:51:25
Q: With the level cap increase, do you have plans to add new Specialist actions, as well as make adjustments to existing ones?
A: New Specialist actions will be added, and we're also planning to adjust existing actions where players can gain additional effect only when they are a Specialist. So the Specialist system will be improved overall.

Q: Will the weekly restrictions on blue scrips and red scrips continue to be used in Patch 4.0, or will there be a new token for Disciples of the Land and Hand?
A: Blue scrips will be retired in Patch 4.0. Red scrips will remain; however, the weekly restrictions will be removed. Additionally, we're adding a yellow scrips for level 70, and they won't have any weekly restrictions either. Therefore, the weekly restrictions for both Disciples of the Land and Hand will be no more.

Q: With the level cap being increased, I believe the maximum amount of GP we can have will increase. Will the speed in which GP recovers increase?
A: The speed won't change; however there is a new trait which will increase the speed for GP recovery. Players will be able to obtain this trait through the class quest series, so make sure to do them!

As an additional note, players will only learn one action for their job/class through quests. These actions are received as a reward for completing the job/class quest series, so until then, the story will be the key element for these quests. For Disciples of War and Magic, I believe you can complete all the job quests at one time when you hit level 70; however, for Disciples of the Land and Hand, the story is directly tied into the gathering/crafting, so please complete them in order.

Q: I play mainly as a fisher so I'm looking forward to gathering while underwater. Are there any plans to implement this?
A: All gatherers will have a new underwater gathering feature implemented. For fishers, spearfishing will be added.

There is nothing in this to indicate there will be any changes to cross-class skills for crafters...

Role abilities exist for DOW/DOM because it eliminates the need to play a role you have no interested in.

Crafting has no need for this, all crafts play the same and it comes down to your preferred focus when leveling them. If you want the ability from cooking, you have to earn it to use it for your other class, but by going from say Blacksmith to Culinary, you aren't suddenly having to understand a new play style compared to say going for Gladiator, to Conjurer, because you need said class to unlock Paladin.
