Is it really rewarding to play tank/heal role?

Tank and Healer are the most difficult roles to play. The question is: With all the self sustain nerf and damage nerf to tanks, will it be rewarding to play as a tank?
We lost so much complexity, this is a direct impact of the reward of being a tank (difficulty)

DPS seems far rewarding to play, they have self sustain now with bloodbath, high damage, so they can solo things fast, and the role is the most fun and complex.

Tank doesn't need to be WAY behind a DPS job in damage and rotation complexity. What about PVP?
If we aren't in the tank stance, we are a DPS. Cause we lose Def and gain damage, so we must do damage!
If the healer isn't healing, he's a DPS too.

We all need to do fair damage in the DPS stance!
    But we do half damage...

Why do we need to have THAT MUCH of low DPS?

If I'm wrong, why do DPS is highly more playable by players than healer and Tank? Cause it's easy to hard, fun and complex.

There's 2 new DPS jobs and what we tanks and healer get? A BIG HAPPY NERF.

Really, I just have no reasons, out of intant queue, to play tank.

This was the first game that I could enjoy tanking, because the damage wasn't so incredibly far off from the DPS classes like the other MMO I played a lot.

I guess that's over. I was afraid this might happen in 4.0 but people assured me it wouldn't because "they don't want people to be discouraged from leveling tanks", as in get frustrated over the length of encounters in the single player content.

I guess they don't care about that after all.

I'm still going to be maining one of the tanks, not sure which yet, no question. I actually find them much easier to play than any of the DPS jobs. With how big of a deal damage is in this game, something about how the DPS play really puts me on edge and makes me nervous that I'm not playing it 'right'. The more fluid and reactionary nature of tanks and healers feels much better than the rotation based play of a DPS.

Couple things you stated I have issue with:
"Tank is the most difficult role to play."
"We all need to do equal damage in the dps stance!"

If you like to tank, play tank. If you like to do lots of damage DON'T play tank. It's that simple.

Can't speak for everyone, but I tank to tank. DPS is secondary. It is important, but it is secondary to the job of taking the beatings.

That's the "why" of tanking for me. It's half of the "keep everyone else alive" equation, and it's cool enough all by itself, at least for me. IMHO, YMMV.

I think our damage is pretty good, warriors have it coming big time this expansion, the amount of skill we lose (even marauder mercy stroke an bloodbath) that been on my hot bar for more than 5yrs, I know we got rampart but still warriors are not the safe tank but the self sustainable tank with selfheales, as a main war I do feel robbed, I'm gonna wait for SB an test it myself ,who knows maybe those changes are for the best, but yeah is gonna feel a little weird.
I'll be missing all of you skills to be part of the past..
    Mercy stroke
    Bloodbath
    Mantra
    Internal release
    Flash(our mp is useless now)
    Storm path debut
Stance swap got a price too..
    An others
The identity of war is a little weird right now let's see what's on store for us.

No it's really not. Not even close. Tank is actually probably the easiest role to play. Many boss mechanics outright ignore tanks, enmity isn't even remotely an issue, and as far as dpsing goes tanks have among the easiest of rotations to maintain.

Well, I personally don't find it satisfying - To me, tanks and healers are artificial and superfluous roles whose identifying traits, by virtue of being either useless or necessary, are a binary, tacked on mess that feels clunky and has no means of scaling with skill and thereby no means to reward it. Plus, the very notion of playing to not lose, rather than to win, feels counterintuitive.

In spite of that, I can find enjoyment in playing healer - For a DPS main, it's quite relaxing. And sometimes, turning off my brain is nice, particularly in longer grinds (Anima says hi!). Tanks less so - The only really fun thing to me was sprinting into tons of mobs with yolo-no-grit and DA'd abyssal spamming them all to death while my health yoyos up and down like crazy.

I'd actually agree with this. I think healers have it the hardest, then any of the turret or melee DPS, then fire/forget move_friendly DPS, then tanks.

Tanks might have a less forgiving knowledge/gear meta maybe (rightfully so, imho), but the job itself isn't that hard when you are actually in the game doing the job.
