How are the cross role changes affecting crafters/gatherers?

I don't think we've seen anything about this, but I would like to know.

How are the cross role changes going to affect crafters? Will DoW/Ms still be able to access abilities such as Truth of Forests/Mountains? Are we still going to have to level almost every class to get the abilities we need?

There's been very little information coming out about changes to crafting and gathering and it bothers me.

This has been bothering me also. I have not heard a single thing on crafting and only that gathering is getting to be underwater... I dont imagine they are going to change Cross class for DoM/DoW ONLY, but at this current time there is nothing saying that they wont. The Gathering classes arnt all that big of a deal b/c theres not really anything important to cross class but Crafting should of had SOMETHING said about it by now.

I was hoping to be able to use the Truth abilities on my AST while leveling to gather information about nodes. I get it's a very niche capability, but please consider that SE lol.

But they wanted to remove the requirement to level other classes to gain essential abilities. So, no, crafters don't have roles, but will that philosophy - where you don't need to level everything - carry over to crafters as well?

They have mentioned that there will be new specialist abilities and adjustments to existing actions where the specialist soul will give you additional effects.

It's anyone's guess what those effects will be but they could hypothetically turn SH1 into something like SH2 and so on.

Their role IS crafting. They do not have a combat role, but they do have a role.

The same thing applies to Miner, Botanist, and Fisher; their role is gathering.

I've been asking this myself. I've come back for Stormblood, got all the MSQ done and no real need for primals and raid content so leveling crafts is the best use of my time right now.
