My buddy plays ffxiv on his tablet.
I am the Fist of Retribution
I have almost the exam same setup and I can run the game at max settings at 1080p @ 120fps. Heck you can run other AAA games at 60fps on max easy.
OP really wanted to post his specs huh? You're fine op, '''''barely''''', but fine.

Sorry, but you need a Titan Xp and a i7 6950X to come close to running FFXIV. You should return that laptop.
I'm joking of course. If you're not just bragging and actually want to know, you'r more than capable.

Why no one invests in a good monitor with G-Sync or Free Sync?![]()
Many people don't notice screen tearing or care about it.
I have one, but to be honest i never noticed any screen tearing prior, even in the days when i didn't even use V-sync. For me, it's all about them hertz, my monitor can go up to 165hz. Everything is smoother than butter when you can see all those extra frames per second.

This is easy to explain.
nVidia will not support Freesync. All the cheaper monitors support Freesync, not G-sync. Hence you get "locked in" so to speak.
It needs to be said however that the point of Freesync/G-sync is variable framerate, not maximum framerate. So if you're playing with Vsync on, or windowed, there is no discernible difference either way. A GTX 1070 can do 60fps on FFXIV with little frame dropping. A GTX 1080 can do 4K at 60fps through 90% of the content, and what content results in drops tends to be the same places where a 1060 would drop at 1080p.
Basically a 1080 is the 100% card, the 1070 is the 50% card, the 1060 is the 25% card, and a 1050 is the 12.5% card
So FFXIV gets 60fps at 4K on a 1080, 120fps on at 1080p and 240fps at 720p
Therefor you can get 30fps at 4K on a GTX 1070, 60fps at 1080p, and 120fps at 720p
A 1060 is probably not recommended to play to begin with but you can get 30fps at 1080p, or 60fps at 720p.
If you turn off some settings you can typically double the frame rate at any particular resolution, at the expense of quality. That is typically the HBAO+ from Quality to Standard gets you an additional 10fps, and turning it off gets you a little bit more.
Turning Antialiasing off (recommended at 4K) only nets you about 5 additional fps.
Anything else from Maximum becomes noticeable. I have a GTX 1080 and at 4K, most busy areas stay at least at 50fps, instances stay at 60fps.
Keep in mind that the GTX 1070 and 1080's selling point is VR, which means it needs to render two 960x1080p screens side by side at 90fps to not make people sick. So it's literately tuned to get that under most configurations.
The 1080 Ti is about 15% better than the 1080, which would be enough to get 60fps in all areas in FFXIV at 4K, but it's probably not worth the 400$ price differential for that. The 1070 is the best value if you're playing at 1080p.
