    I can agree, I saw the reviews myself and decided against doing the app due to horrible reviews, may give it a shot now though.

    I have waffled on using the software app.. I always hear horror stories about people losing accounts and stuff and that worries me as I'm Legacy and I like the sub discount, but on the other hand I'm nervous about installing the app and having it mess up and losing my account that way.... Dunno what do to.

    Been using the software app for a good while now. First on my iPhone, now on my Android.

    Switching over, detaching and re-attaching was fast and painless with the emergency removal password. Both phones went through the regular OS updates and whatnot while the app was installed, and no problems whatsoever so far.

    I will definately give the app a shot for a week at least and see if it lasts. Good to hear that the physical token can last for a long while as well! Thanks for the feedback everyone!

    I use it on a Nexus 6P. Never had any issue. Easy process to register it and disable it (in case of phone reset/lost phone etc).
    If you value your account and its security then you MUST use it.
    Passwords are not enough for security. Enable 2 step authentication everywhere you can including Google account, Facebook, Apple, PayPal and whatever you use and has an option for it.

    Girl Friend used the software app since ARR launched and never had an issue. Make sure to setup the recovery thing with the software app because major phone updates or new phones will mess it up, she did have to do that when she got a new phone.

    I have been using the physical one since they launched in FFXI used the original one for like 4-5 years. I did switch to the newer one. Old one never said low battery but figured it had to be near its life span. I would recommend the physical one if you have some money to buy it. Just have to not lose it.

    As someone who had their account hacked by a keylogger on a 3rd party fan site back in the XI days... I would never play a mmo without a security feature on it. You are gambling otherwise.

    Another perk from the software token is a free teleport location! That in itself is enough of a reason to have one.

    You have the emergency removal password and if for some reason that doesn't work or you lose it, SE has a form on their customer service site you'll fill to have it removed.

    I think it's much more likely to lose your account if you don't have any extra security.

    Never trust reviews. Nine times out of ten they're written by fanboys, written out of spite, or paid for by the product in question. It's quite rare for a review to be legitimate.

    As for whether or not the security token is worth it, it is. The app works fine, I've gone through the process of disabling and re-enabling it to transfer devices without issue as well. I can't speak for the physical token, however, as I've never used it (nor would I ever bother with a physical token, as it's just another piece of clutter that can be lost).

    The app's always worked fine for me. Even in the one case where I changed phones and realized I hadn't saved my removal code (oops!), one call to their account support later it was fixed.
