    Help with WHM DPS

    Hello,

    I just got back into the game a couple weeks ago. Looking at the forums, it seems that healer dps is a hot issue within the community. I'm legally blind and have cerebral palsy. Is there a macro I can set up that will let me target my tank's target so I can Aero II / Stone III it? By the time I switch from my tank to the mobs using my controller stuff is already on the verge of being dead. I've only done a handful of dungeons since returning, but I do notice gaps between needed heals and would ideally like to fix that.

    Also:

    1. Is there a good healing guide I should look at?

    2. Is there any form of guide for what dps skills I should use in dungeons / how to use them?

    Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

    Keep in mind StormBlood is dropping in 2 weeks, so the DPS skill listed here will be outdated.

    Currently you'll want to keep Aero 3 and Aero 2 on a boss, and use Stone III once you have both up, if you have to move to avoid AoEs and stuff, you can use Aero I as well as it is instant cast.

    Regarding your macro question, I highly suggest the below macro:
    /ac "Stone III" <f>
    /ac "Stone III" <t>
    /ac "Stone III" <tt>
    Do you know about the focus target function? I'm not entirely sure how to focus target on a controller, I just know it's possible.

    The above macro will 1st try to attack your focus target, if invalid, will try for your target, and then lastly for your target's target.

    So my suggestion is always focus target the boss/mobs you wanna kill, then you can just switch your main target back to your tank, and freely dps.

    Hope this helps!!

    IIRC, the optimal DPS rotation goes something like:

    Cleric Stance => Aero 3 => Aero 1 => Aero 2 => Stone 3 (until a DoT falls off)

    If I feel I can fit it in, just doing Cleric Stance => Aeros => Cleric Stance is usually sufficient, as that puts me back into healer stance, and there's enough time spent casting to drop cleric.

    However, all of this is about to change in about 3 weeks.

    Everything will indeed change in 3 weeks. However, I wanted to point out something.

    Cleric Stance => Aero 3 => Aero 1 => Aero 2 => Stone 3 (until a DoT falls off)
    Aero 1 should not be used except under 3 conditions as it is a DPS loss to use Aero 1 over Stone 3.

    Basically the 3 conditions are;

    1. When moving.
    2. When you have Fluid Aura and weave it right after you use Aero 1.
    3. When you have Assize and weave it right after you use Aero 1.

    The reason is because Aero 1 has a total potency of 200 while Stone 3 has a potency of 210. Using Aero 1 without weaving an ogcd damage ability will thus result in a DPS loss.

    Of course, all of these will change come SB. You won't need to use Cleric Stance to DPS after SB since healer damage will use Mind stat instead of Intelligence.

    As already said, for single target it's Aero III --> Aero II --> (Aero if in a situation listed by SecretCrowds above) --> Stone III spam (you can use Precence of Mind to boost this!).

    For AoE DPS, Aero III --> Holy spam --> Assize for extra DPS and MP (You can also begin with Swiftcast Holy to give yourself some breathing room, then Aero III and more Holy).

    DreamWeaver already suggested a good macro for you. Remember to use your Divine Seal regen, Eye for an Eye and Asylum to create yourself more DPS room (and Assize and Shroud of Saints on every cooldown for MP).

    To add to those "when to use Aero I", you can also use it when you're switching away from Cleric Stance in addition to the situations already listed. But try not to push monsters around too much.

    Keep in mind that outside of raid content like savage Alexander and extreme primals healer dps is a nice thing to have but far from required. That being said, if you want to really master your class, even as a healer, you do well to look into the dps part.

    On a side note, DreamWeaver mentioned focus target. On a controller it is simply done by bringing up the sub menu via pressing the square button while targeting the boss and selecting ficus target. There's also a text command to type in chat, but I can't seem to remember it atm.

    If you have a keyboard, just CTRL F (or ALT F >.>; I forgot which and I'm not in game atm lol.) while targeting will focus target.
