Merged thread are usually hard to follow because the intersection of posts. I view the threads being merged more as a "please stop make new threads for same thing" alert, than "forum cleanness".

Forum modding here is at its best, mods are barely noticed other than some announcement they made, and this is a good thing. I don't see anything to change.
