D/C have to wait minutes to get back in the game? Why is this a thing?

So for reasons I have never been able to figure out every once in a while I will get randomly disconnected with some 900002 error. This is bad enough but the real icing on the cake is the game won't even let you come back instead you have to wait some ungodly number of minutes for it to log you out?? before you can get back in the game. So the slightest connection issue means you are gone for 3-5 minutes minimum. How is this acceptable? How has this not been changed in the last 4 years?

This doesn't happen in any other online game that I can think of. This basically shuts me out of any tank or healer job because I cannot risk being out of a fight for that long. If it hasn't been addressed by now I am guessing it never will but this is such a horrible experience that it really colors my feelings on the game as a whole.

While I do agree its very annoying. And not a fun thing. I rarely have this issue when I'm DC'd. However; this does happen in WoW as well and with a lot more frequency, imo. So I'm not sure its quite as easy to code around/fix.

Not quite sure about that, I have played both and I had no problem logging right back in if I got dc'd in wow.

Heh, so we have the same issue in opposite games. XD Still it is annoying, and I agree, I wish there was a better way to avoid it from happening. Never quite understood how sometimes a chara remains logged on after a DC. I usually fix it by loading in another chara. (works in WoW for me anyway)

I think the worst part of this is it seems to happen the most in instances...

A couple months ago I decided to help a sprout out with unsyncing Steps of Faith. I had a couple random DC's in the half hour waiting for people before heading in, but no biggie - got right back in instantly. The second we enter the instance, I DC, and I can't get back in for literally 11 minutes because I was ~still logged in~ - could even see it on my boyfriend's screen. They all finished the fight without me, but obviously I was still a butt. I've noticed this every other time as well - if I get DC'd in an instance, it's ALWAYS 2+ minutes waiting. It's rare that an overworld DC doesn't let me back in in <30 seconds.

I can honestly say I haven't been DCd from this game since HW was released. But even then I had no problem getting back in.

I have not had this problem since launch, but now if I do DC usually can just log back in fine.

Not quite sure about that, I have played both and I had no problem logging right back in if I got dc'd in wow.

I never had it in wow, and longest time (yes I mean down to the second I watch the clock, etc,) was for this game did not let me log in for 7 minutes. This is SE's end, it should not happen, and I hope it gets fixed.

I've only disconnected a handful of times but it seemed* like the normal logout timer applies. That is I could get back immediately if I dc'd in any kind of sanctuary but had to wait for the timer to expire when dc'd out in the field, with attempts to log in while it ticks down apparently resetting the timer.

When I say 7 minutes I mean 7 minutes, not that 30 sec timer.
