if your like me and want nothing more than to obsess over epic battles and epenis gear then id say you might as well log in once in a blue moon out of boredom while waiting for other games to come out. it really is your best bet.
My question is why are people who want this kind of game playing XIV to begin with. It is not a quest grinder or PvP focused, and that was known at launch. It is very very obvious SE is not making it a quest grinder... the fact they are not adding long quest arcs with high XP and such is proof of that.

People who want western style quest Hube style game should play Rift, WoW, ToR or a game along those lines. I just do not see this game targeting those kind of players anytime soon at all if ever.

But for me atm while this game had 1/10th the quest of say Rift atm..... I can easily log in at night and play XIV for 2-3 hrs longer then I can stomach say Rift or WoW. All due to grouping. Running instances nonstop gets boring, and playing solo is just not fun if over 20-30mins. PvP is ok for short burst but a stupid rogue jumping in circles around you can only amuse one for so long. Being able to log in play with others from level 15 all the way through endgame in almost all aspects of the game is vastly more enjoyable then soloing... this is something that is impossible to really do on any western game and why myself and others are enjoying what is in the game atm even though no will argue it is not enough and alot of it is broken.

Many disagree and like the Solo player rpg feel outside instances and I can respect that but I suggest playing a game designed for your play preference.

My suggestion for those who want a game based on questing is to quit this game not until 1.21 but until 2.0 when the new free trial comes, Then see if you like the new XIV style. Then if you hate it just quit for good because the game is not for you at that point.

But honestly if you hate the game now... looking at the schedule the dev released awhile ago... nothing is going to change it anytime soon.

Well said. I've played a lot of mmo on release and the amount of stuff to do was overwhelming. This game atm does not have even half of the content which those games had. Nearly all my friends are super bored with xiv . They don't hate the game they say it's nice but just so boring...nothing to do.

Less and less people playing everyday doesn't help either

If they was not interested in Quests then why would they make jobs be only advancable (made that up lol) through quests? You cant learn skills by levelling, only Quests. They put more quests in than they do grinding areas. (Though with mob increase maybe that will change).

Not to mention Yoshi is very into PVP. But I am fairly sure its stated that PVP will be in after v2.

The game clearly failed on initial release, hence the entire heads of staff were changed around, the game was taken on a new direction from essentially scratch.

Yoshida is doing a tremendous job, but he isn't just creating a game, he's gotta first fix what's wrong with the old one, rather than wipe everyones character data and loose thousands of players. That gradual changes, keeping in mind what he wants the game to become in the future must be immensely difficult to manage.

Every patch has slowly but surely peaked my interests in this game, I usually play solidly for 2-3 weeks after each patch, then stop playing until the next one.

This patch isn't going to be a deal breaker for me, but considering I get to play it for a few weeks for free, im down with that.

Paying £6 a month to help fund the development of a game that I want to play in the future I see as money well spent, and if I don't want to do that, I can just not play it for 12 months and come back when 2.0 goes live.

I'm probably going to pay for a month, play it intensely, then take a 1 month break from billing and the game.

If jobs are good enough, that might not be true, but its my plan for the time being.

It's a lot easier to build something from scratch, than have to pick apart and rework something that is already there.

I'm not white knighting, I'm severely disappointed at SE for messing up so badly the first time around. I'd been waiting for FFXIV for a long time, and when I got into the Alpha, my excitement turned to dismay very quickly, but after sticking with this game since Alpha I think it's pretty clear that Yoshida knows what he's doing. He made FF9 which continues to be my favourite FF game, FFXIV 2.0 will most likely overtake that one day.

I will likely pay just on patch days, then im only paying every 3 months or so and saving money.

I do not agree on the whole "Pay now for a game I want in the future", because then I might as well pay other developers for their games they will release in the future.

You are literally paying for SE's mistakes, at least you get dedicated staff and something to play in the meantime. And with all the adjustments you get a nice smooth transition.

In the end, it does not matter. SE has a plan for the next 12 months, and they will likely stick to it, if we ask for content here and there, it is unlikely going to happen unless it is something very easy for them to do that will not pull them away from their original plan.

    I'm fine with that though.

It's a pretty dumb mindset tbh. In the worst case they'll take the servers down, 'cause that's all the subs will fund at best. You aren't really funding anything except the current upkeep. 2.0 will come regardless of if you pay or not.

That said I'm not completely innocent. I saw the game's failure coming ever since Open Beta and still bought the CE in the hopes that they'd rebuild the game. Looks like my investment was a success, but this time it's not the same thing. i will only pay if I want to keep playing the game pre-2.0. Every other reason is people lying to themselves.

ALways remember guys, these folks are from "the order of the seer" and they use they same crystal ball they used to swear up and down that CON=BLM and THM=WHM, to make these delay predictions.

Trust in them, they base all there post of factual prediction, no idioticly childish emotional assumptions based on there general anger, or distaste for there station in life.
