This theorycrafter says Kaiten works on Higanbana's dot. I guess we'll see, but it's hard it doesn't or you would only use Midare Setsugekka once you can buff it with Kaiten.Edited the main post with the link but adding it here too for extra visibility
Reddit user /u/lenoan created a pretty nice spreadsheet for creating rotations for samurai. Use it to play around and see if you can come up with the best solution. To use it just create a copy for yourself from the file menu I believe. All you have to do is pick a skill from the action column. The rest of the table fills itself in:

Good to see the work so far on figuring out the rotation.
Yeah, I don't think he really knows. He is just assuming. I mean, didn't we have verification from that youtuber that it doesn't. The spreadsheet lets you set kaiten working on dots to true or false so you can build rotations both ways.
Given the tooltip it makes sense to me that kaiten wouldn't affect the dot on higanbana. The skills that increase dot damage are skills that in some way increase damage in the calculation, they don't increase the potency of the dot per se, they increase the caster's damage or the damage taken by a target(like raging strikes, slashing debuff etc). Katien said increases the potency of the next weapon skill. Well higanbana's potency is 240, the dot is an additional effect, not the weapon skill. So much like crit skills and ammo don't increase dot potency I doubt kaiten will either.

That does make sense. I was actually thinking of something like Doton which is affect by Kassatsu, but that is pretty different especially since Higanbana has direct damage with the dot as additional.Given the tooltip it makes sense to me that kaiten wouldn't affect the dot on higanbana. I did just watch Veri Merry's video but i didn't hear any mention of this confirmation. He doesn't cover any such interaction as far as I can tell, unless it's in a different video.

Just going to leave this tidbit of information here. Please give credit to the author.

Also I doubt the 150% bonus ability works on the dot. Maybe on the upfront damage but not on the tick damage.

A lot of videos from the media event purposely left out talk of potency because they knew the tooltips were somewhat screwed up.

Lol, I posted this less than 10 posts ago.good news, an amazing person on reddit did some good potency math for kenki and skills with some insight into useage.

Fantastic tool, however, it's missing Ageha, and the damage modifiers don't apply to Yaten, Enbi, or Gyoten in the calculations. Other than that, good stuff.Edited the main post with the link but adding it here too for extra visibility
