Whew. I thought it was just me.
I had a MSQ where I have to defeat these refugees in order to convince them that going up against the Brass Blades was suicide. My chocobo was in the stables, so I was by myself.
But hey, I was a samurai and these were poorly trained peasants. How hard could it be?
I died three times.
On a lark, I switched to my white mage job and walked through the quest with no problem at all. To say I was a bit bummed would be an understatement. Wondered if I should try playing a damage dealer at all.
So, I am heartened to read other players feel samurai are squishy. They are nothing like how they are portrayed in the trailers.

Will someone please do the community a favor and create a thread for Samurai, where you can have the optimal rotation discussion , tips, guides etc... like you have for all the other jobs
I would do so, but i lack the time or knowledge to do so, and Sam deserves its spot

Under construction.
Good stuff man, please give it a worthy name!

Anyone know perfect Hagakure usage? I do not mean in the opener but in general.
While Hissatsu: Guren is worth 16 potency per Kenki (single target), Kaiten: Midare Setsugekka (worth 80 Kenki) is 13.5 potency per Kenki. It's clearly worth it to pay for a Guren. However, Shinten is worth only 12 so it might not be worth it to just Shinten more.
Taking the difference that Midare costs a gcd while Shinten doesn't might favor the latter making Hagakure always worth using. But I'm not a real theorycrafter to calculate that so it'd be great if anyone else has figured this out.
Is Hagakure only worth using when needed to perform the more efficient spenders (Kaiten: Higanbana or Hissatsu:Guren) or is it always worth it?
(I do see some math in the earlier part of this thread favoring the latter - always use Hagakure, but I'd still like confirmation since there was disagreement about it)

Anybody figure out a good opener yet for starting with zero sen and zero kenki? So far I have been going
Hakaze > jinpu > gekko > (kaiten) > higanbana > (Meikyo) > gekko > shifu > kasha > Hakaze > (shinten) > Yukikaze > (Hakagure) > Hakaze > (guren) then continuing from there with the jinpu combo. Would like to know if anybody has anything definitive yet.

Not sure it's been discussed, but what's your take on a double Midare Setsugekka (MSG)? I'm still leveling atm, but healer threw me a balance and I figured "Let's get weird!"
(Kaiten) Meikyo Shisui > MSG > Combo enders to rebuild Sen > (Kaiten) MSG
Then we all had a mild joygasm over the 2 direct crits I was fortunate enough to get with that. Didn't rip aggro off the tank, but definitely did some decent burst damage and shot up the enmity list. Anyways, would you say this is viable or no? Might as well not form the habit if it isn't.
Completely unviable in endgame raids that usually don't have trash, but in content with trash, fun as hell. Standard openers are with zero sen and zero kenki from the start.
