TLDR:i am a monk main from closed beta 3 of 2.0 i am worried about monk NERFS cause this is far from a buff or balance (useing my gut math and gut feelings like a monk main should) i think monks got shafted hard compared to the other 2 melees and SAM is just lame having gl3 dmg buff and gl2 speed buff...with 1k potency moves that he can use in close sucesion by using his PB and buffing them by at least 65%....
So i am a monk main from close beta 3 of 2.0 and i love the job in 3.0 we got some stuff to do in the downtime and .... torando kick so i was fine with it it was fine if we cant keep stacks with all the new tools and gl3 duration increases we got fine we TK and lose them all.
Now in 4.X what are we getting what i feel we are getting is removal of monk identetie in 3.X a stigma started for monks dealet monks bla bla bla cause we didnt contribute enough raid utility and by utility i mean dmg cause thats all people care about nowdays and that is fine thats where meta is going so be it but to me monk alwayse had a space in progresion do you need more healing and some magic mitigation hey take monk he got DK and strong mantra. some people compalin about it that DK has it or what not ( what also annoyed me since they took the monk raid spots in certain fight) but that was ok cause throughout alex savage we did have few fight where multiple int downs where ok and even a good idea a1s comes to mind. now monk was alwayse go fast hit hit hit hit type of job what i loved but now they give us more dmg but slow us down (translations difer from saurce to saurce) by 15%? so they want us to have drg speed? fine i can survive that people complain about monk lacking raid utility... hey lets REMOVE DRAGONKICK int down thare goes monks defensive utility out the window and hey lets give him 5% dmg buff.... great but thats not all 5% works only on half of your raid since its only phys.... whats the point of that then trick is more benefisical and drg gets another utility ON TOP of litany... fine let it be so i will somehow mannage.
now before people start crying about hey but you get more FB i say hahaha. sure lets asume a avreage crit chance on monk of 30% ( what is wishfull thinking now 30% to get a stack durring a crit if my math is right thats 1/9 chance to get a stack so thats 45 moves to get 5 stacks sure we get ir and bortherhood so lets lower this to 1/7 chance to get a stack on avreage so thats 35 moves lets take 2.2 gcd( assuming avreage slow caused by riddle of fire (estimate)) then 35x2.2 thats77 sec now great lets asume a fight lasts 10 min and we can get 10 fb's in on current fights durring prog you could get 2-4 fb's. now lets asume for a moment that potencys we where given are final man do i hope that is not the case then old 3 fb's = to 4 new fb's so in a new fight that lasts on avreage 10 min we got 6 fb's left of what was it 240 potency? 260? lets say 260 so 260*6 is 1560 potency now lets asume we have 8 min uptime jumps and so on will lower it from 10 and lets take the gcd of 2.2 now and the use 10 potency on avreage that we would lose from the new date we got. yes yes i know it is subject to change but for now we can only work with what we know. so (60*8)/2.2= 477 gcd's now that is 4770 potency that we lose it is a raw estimate compared to the current values in game not caunting tod and so on so this number is propably higher sooo we gain +- 1.6k potency from all the ekstra FB's but lose.... 4.7k from simply 10 potency cuts on main combo + demo + tod....
and you are telling me that the riddle of fire what SLOWS MONKS DOWN for some dmg will compencate the difrence?
now ok lets say that is true and we will be equal to what we do now
my next question is if you compare us that stayed at same lvl that we where for the past year to other melees ( im not even gonna mention SMN 1000 potnecy move that he can use twice in a row with his own pb and buff each by his own 15% dmg combo and 50% ogcd....) all basicly gain 10( some cases as much as 60) according to MTQ tooltips on there main combos. sure you say but we lost a dot (looking at you drg) fine you lost a dot but you got another raid utility akward to use but in raid scenario wont be aproblem and you did get potency increases ACROS THE BOARD now we move on to nin that also got potency increases more nukes and true a kinda hard to use ninjutsu laylines move but that is a mather of practice and problem solved.
so in the end monk gained... a stun no mather the Dimishing returns... ( so drg and monk will use there normal stuns like spineshaterdive and shoulder tackle and monk will be responsible for sutning a bos when a mechanic requiers it) we also gained.... something like bfb but we lose speed what basicly makes it slightly better then old bfb but without the dmg taken penalty, more dmg reduction but only if we take dmg first... so think titan stomps type of aoe i gues and a buffed shouldertackle cause the raid utility can just as well not exist if it will stay at 5%... someone needs to do the math but isnt trick atack every 60 sec MORE effective since it buffs everyone as well.. instead of just phys.
so to finish off my rant when a lot of people are hyped about the new stuff and there job goodies i feel sad and worried to the point of willing to stop playing monk when i was enjoying it for such a long time.
