To me it still sounds like a melee BLM :/

and becoming less and less interesting. don't forget this poing, a dumb down monk that is playing like a weak blm.... *sigh*
from XI to XIV 2.0 i came as a monk and when 4.0 finally hits i will be a bard.... it sucks how they just destroyed the class design as a machine gun with riddle of fire... maybe they will change their mind and i can go back to the job i love![]()
The person doing the datamining over on Reddit is working on traits now and it looks like Deep Meditation is now 50% rather than 30%. So I guess that is at least something slightly better than what we had at the media tour.
It honestly doesn't really change anything though. Still gonna be more RNG and with how often I seem to fail gathering attempts at 50% I don't have much hope. Even less if this is what it was like during E3.
Really disappointed with what they have done with monk ;_;
What's really sad is Brotherhood is still garbage-tier raid utility. It's still only 5% and still only for the other physical damage dealers, for 15 seconds on a 90s cooldown. It's a 5% boost to the tanks and 1-2 other people with a 1/6 uptime, resulting in about 1% overall damage for those people.The person doing the datamining over on Reddit is working on traits now and it looks like Deep Meditation is now 50% rather than 30%. It's even funnier when you notice Monks are still going to need babysitting to reach their full DPS potential, since the chakra transfer only works with weaponskills -- meaning a monk needs a quad physical comp to get the most personal DPS.
The tooltip is the same, so it's not looking likely.
If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.
FOR DOCKHAND!
From what I hear, Riddle of Earth refreshes on use and not being hit now?
That's an improvement insomuch as it doesn't utterly fail at what it's trying to do I suppose, but that still leaves it redundant with Perfect Balance as a skill that lets you start the next phase at maximum stacks.
It's existence is like Black Mage getting an action that exclusively adds 30 seconds to Enochian as a fix for its upkeep instead of them getting Foul
With the potency nerfs to all monk GCDs and Forbidden Chakra, I really don't see how MNK will be competitive. From the numbers that were released a month ago I math'd out the MNK PPS and it was quite a bit (15-20%) behind SAM and NIN.
Now that we see that the potencies are correct and there's no buff to either FoF or GL, I think we can officially start to worry about the future of 4.0 monk. It's looking very grim.
I have seen some people talking about how now that skill speed affects auto attacks it will make up for the damage loss on potency reductions, but really, I don't want the thing that keeps my damage competitive to be whether or not I am standing next to the boss and auto attacking. My auto attacks could have the power of Rhalgr himself behind them and it wouldn't make it anymore fun that it is looking like it will be.
