Worried about SAM not having utilities for raids/party ?

They are basically the new MNK. All they have is slashing. However early reports from the media tour are saying that SAM (along with BLM) are a fair bit ahead in terms of personal dps.

We'll have to wait and see if it's enough to make up for the lack of utility.

Remember that they'll still be able to bring Goad, Feint (STR+DEX virus), and other utility-based cross-role abilities (as can any other melee job, of course) in addition to their slashing debuff. In Goad's case, Ninja is also losing the distinction of being the sole job that can bring that capability. Hopefully, this just means that the gap between jobs with "high utility" and "low utility" will be somewhat narrowed compared to Heavensward.
