Progress vs fun vs grind. MGP is grind.

Hi Forum, Hi Devs~

I was looking forward to the make it rain event until I remembered (returning player):
MGP grinding is long, tedious, and boring.
Triple Triad is long, tedious, and boring due to all the chaos, random, and "time windows".

I want to log in, do something rewarding for my 4-6 hours, and log out feeling like I've made progression.
Even with the +50% bonus, it's just not rewarding.
It's grindy things like this that made stop playing last year.

Positive note: the Triple Triad duty was fun to find other players to play against.

FFXIV is what I consider a "long setup" game. I don't want to log in daily to do dailies to make any real progress.
Quick, easy like clash of clans's things ok.
FFXIV? I expect to sit down and play for 4+ hours; I may not feel like doing that daily.

So, please, be more considerate with your grindy game systems...

I believe the thought was to make something that was more of a time sink, give players some "fun" mini games to kill some time while waiting for either friends to log in, DPS dungeon ques or just kill some time in general.

I don't think grinding MGP is a good idea, even with the event. I'm sticking to my routine of mini cactpot each day, hitting up any GATEs I see while I'm there, and the cactpot weekly. I'll also do whatever I can stomach out of the challenge log, same as any week. I'm over 600k, despite lapsing on my daily routine for a couple of weeks and the challenge log for like the last month, and I'll get all the rewards eventually if I just stick with it.

I think the gold saucer was meant for long term rewards, seeing how it almost never gets new items added. So you can grind if you want to, but you don't have to.

Um... you do realise that you're playing a MMORPG, right? They're grindy in nature.
Also, in order to get every item in the event... all you need to do is login and talk to 3 NPCs. That is it. You are given a MGP card worth 30k MGP, which is more than enough for you to get every item in the event. I don't see where the issue is. They are literally throwing these things at you and you are still not satisfied?

Except its not raining, hard to call it drizzle even...
The event items were what they were, event items. I'm probably going to use the hairstyle.
The main theme of the event was as written.
This isn't going to help me get Fenrir, hell it's not even going to help me rngesus enough packs to get a rare.

mini cactpot is the only thing i use to make mgp in a week i will usually get the 10k a couple of times. Last week i got the jackpot twice out of the three chances you get daily.

Depends on what stuff in the GS you're doing. I won quite a lot of MGP in GATEs yesterday. Earned about 75k MGP alone. Also, do your challenge log. That's really simple to do and it will gain you a lot of MGP. It's raining, you just need to ready your bucket to collect it.

You don't notice the grind is boring if you sit afk in the Gold Saucer and do something else. I just got Star Wars Thrawn(finally XD) and I've been enjoying reading my book while waiting, don't even notice the time really until the chime pipes up for the next GATE. You can reduce the volume of the BGM and put your own music on too.

I did the same thing when the GS first came out cause I wanted the Gambler's set desperately(Setzer being one of my favourite FF characters).

If you don't have a book OP, maybe load up Twitch or Youtube and do a bit of browsing while you wait for GATEs?
