do you really think that they would have had the amount of people playing if they had started charging right away to sustain even server costs? please, what drugs are you smoking....and can i have some =)I'm living in reality -
Running an MMO with zero profit is worse than Running an MMO with a little profit, it only takes common sense to realize this.
You don't shut something down that is making you any kind of profit, you shut something down if it's making you no profit. Most "Free MMOs" almost always has a cashshop tied to it to recoup costs and make a profit, XIV didn't have anything but box sales to go on, not even a cashshop.
Much like when they charge in January, there would have been people who still paid for it and there would have been people who didn't. Other companies also had the option of running it free if they performed poorly, but that's bleeding money which is why they close it down and sell it off, SE decided to take that hit that most companies choose not to.
Your posts so far have made me lol.
But, seriously, if they don't charge us then this game will die and then we couldn't play it anyhow.
How we feel about it isn't going to effect anything, just be glad SE was so faithful to this game and kind enough to make it F2P for awhile.
do you really think the game would have been kept going if they started to charge on day 1?Your posts so far have made me lol.
