    I normally love moving around during the fight, pausing a bit here and there when my character actually CASTS the spell.
    But everything in Yoshi's post just sounds awful!! Spells interrupted when an enemy gets?? And having to cast something like Sleep or Bind EVERY time you want to fight something??? This is going to make combat repetitive and dull REALLY fast.

    I had so much excitement for 2.0 and had faith in Yoshi P, but these changes are going to make me hate playing BLM/THM
    And if I can't enjoy my black mage-ness, then I won't enjoy the game..

    Others have mentioned this on the thread and I agree: Let more powerful spells/bonuses come from standing still while casting, and have weaker spells or less rewards come from moving around. This simple solution will make it 1000x better.

    to sum up some suggestions as alternatives that people made in this thread:

    - bonus/reduction of damage/accuracy depending on whether standing/moving while casting
    or
    - slow down the mages for the casting time
    and/or
    - adjust resistances in PvP

    and a nerf in mages gameplay might need crowd control spells / instant spells / debuffs as compensation.
    (in the same update when the nerf is done - not in 2.0)

    My main question here is does this "cant cast spells while moving" thing only affect spells with a cast time? There are many instant actions that consume MP and spells with no cast time. Can these still be used whilst moving?

    should be able to cause there is no way to interrupt the instant cast spells.

    Yes, instant cast spells, including those when not used in a combo are meant to be used on the move.
    They are meant to slow/stop the mob from pursuing you.
    Yoshi-P commented on how he wanted spell casting and mages to work in general, though I don't feel like looking for it.
    He basically said what I outlined though.

    Great change. All the mages I know are all for it.

    This was announced a long time ago, I don't see the big deal or how this is "antiquated design" lol.

    Because moving is just as easy and perhaps better considering there's no longer an animation lock on spell casting while trying to move.

    It's smoother, and better and it's combined in to one simple thing, movement.

    not omg press esc. key and move.
    not omg hit enter a second time and move.
    not omg i did it all at the same time myself but it locked up my movement and I died to ifrit cracks/hellfire/etc.

    I don't know what the obsession is with wanting to do -more- work to cancel a spell.
