why would i ever want to state my opinion on a forum meant to give feedback on a forum for a game that i am paying for? if it makes you feel better i will go through and comment on each individual sentence that way i don't "skip over" anything.
"The reasoning behind running interrupting spellcasting is to keep balance in the game. "
ok this point could be true if the same type changes were done to the other classes. yoshi states himself one of his major reasons is for pvp purposes. what is being done to stop an arc from binding you at distance and tearing you apart with barrage? using the magic spells as a pvp reason is pretty weak considering as it sits you use 2 combos and are out of mp. do you think you can tell others "hold on and don't attack me. i know you are at 1/4 health after my second combo, but just wait for a minute while i stand still and recover mp."?
"Yoshi-p wants to make mage classes a high risk class, meaning you can deal a lot of damage, but you risk being KO'd if the enemy comes in mele range. "
mage is already the highest risk class in the game. mages take more damage with less hp than any other class in the game. this adds up to a mage already dies fastest of any class if it is attacked. you can say "well you can heal", but you also have to remember when you heal you just increase the stage on the hate table you are on so it doesn't help anyone else getting that mob off of you.
"I'm personally not a big fan of mage classes, but it makes absolute sense to have some type of realism when casting magic. "
yes, this is the sentence i spoke of. it does not make a comparison to other games. it speaks of realism. you can not put realism and magic in the same sentence. you are not running around in real life casting spells so there is no realism to it.
"As deadriser said it kills the immersion seeing mages run around casting spells like it ain't no thing. "
how is it more immersive moving and casting a spell than it is standing still to cast one? both ways you are just casting a spell when it is needed to help a party.
now as i stated to you last night just because we have different opinions on what is fun does not mean that i can agree with the realism, balance, or immersion arguments. i can agree that you like a system that has been used for years more because you have used them before and find them more of an accepted mmo standard. to say it is anything more than a preference though is a fabrication.
i respect what you have to say about mage changes alot more though due to the fact that you are a mage. i could care less what someone that ,says themselves, they are not mage and hates playing them thinks of the mage changes.
it seems to me if they want the standing still and casting to be the new norm they have to balance the battles and go back to more of the old tank and spank that people complained about. i am a fan of the moving fights, but if they want to slow the battles down more and make the mages completely stationary then they will just have to balance content for those changes. the truth is, moving mages are balanced for the type of content they have been releasing for the last 6 months.
