Cause if you don't agree, your complaining... right? Great logic.

Except just like in-game now, something like Sacrifice II says it take 2.25 to cast, when it really takes 3 second, upwards to 4 seconds.

Again, I don't want to rely on the server to decided if I cancel the spell or not via movement. The servers have already been proven time and time again, that it is far from being in-sync with the client. Before the comment is made, .5 to 2 second delay is unreasonable for a MMO, especially if PVP is a planned event down the road, and we would still be using the same server infrastructure if the game didn't bomb so bad in the first place.

Just make it cancel via a easy button press, or made it mode 1 (move to cancel) or mode 2 (cancel via button command).

    Yes you are complaining:
    com·plain/kəmˈplān/
    Verb:
Express dissatisfaction or annoyance about a state of affairs or an event.
Maybe as it stands (since this change hasn't been made yet) we aren't seeing this in the 'current state of affairs' and a better word to use would have been disagree. However, in a few days this will move to complaint.

Aside from your disagreement with my word choice, the servers are out of sync true. Server lag will always exist, at least for people in NA... I doubt they will ever put an NA based server online.

For sacII being 2.25 seconds, it is... the only thing is that the spell finishes before you see it finish on your screen. People will adapt to the fact that they can move before they see the spell finish.

Other games have similar issues. WoW has it as well as every other game and it has an NA based server.

Details (for wow players): Quartz mod and "spell weaving"... start casting, you can see your latency to the server, you cancel (move) while you're in latency period and your spell still casts even though you moved.
Details (for Non-WoW players): You could see how much lag you had between your pc and the servers. It gave you a solid number in milliseconds. Let's use 100ms as your latency, a spell cast is 1 second... after casting for .9 seconds you can move and your cast will still complete.
This is same theory applies to FFXIV.

This isn't ideal and the servers suck, we all know this to be true. However there isn't much hope to get the servers fixed before 2.0...

Also... Yoshi P is pretty smart, I'd wager all my gil that he will make the spell cancel by movement work the same way as Steadfast. You actually had a small area you can move about while Steadfast was active and it wouldn't cancel the buff.

You'll learn to play with it... right or wrong, hate it or love it, this is the direction they want to move in. If AFTER the patch comes out and it's complete trash by all means complain and they will change it.... ability queue anyone?

That doesn't change the fact that they're wasting development resources right now implementing something that the vast majority of the playerbase does not want.

Seems a bit bit sensationalist. Until there's an actual poll, there's no way of knowing whether or not that's true. The minority are usually the most vocal on these forums, as it has always been. There's going to be even more bias in a thread dedicated to opposition of something, so using the comments on it to claim the majority dislike the idea isn't really fair.

I don't mind the change, and Yoshi-P has said that he's working on a big post to explain why they're changing it. He's said it's not because he wants to give players the ability to immediately cancel spells, but that there's a bigger reason. So before everyone goes off and cries bloody murder, I'd suggest to wait and see what Yoshi-P has to say about why they're doing it.

Ahh, but this is where your mistaken. There are multiple threads of page upon page of posters specifically asking for a manner to interupt therecast do to animation lock restrictions and cast times.

In all of those threads no one really mentions a good way to do it, all they do is blatently complain about the issue and that there should be away to break a spell cast and its animation.

Now they got what they asked for and are complaining about it. Again, its be carefull what you ask for, you just might get it.

    1. There is already a way to interrupt spells in the game.

    2. Yoshida said there will continue to be a way to interrupt spells without moving, and this isn't the reason he's adding the move-interrupt mechanic.

Thats all fine and dandy, but it didn't stop 5 threads of 30 pages from forming of people complaining about it.

I neither was asking if there was a way to interupt a spell, nor was I asking what Yoshida said. I ws simply pointing out that this type of thing will happen, good, bad, right, wrong, or indifferent, then you have 5 threads crying about it.

It's okay, Coglin. We still love you.

In due respect, while I believe your choice of word there was nothing more than a troll, or belittling attempt... You got me on a technicality there with the usage of 'complaint', so I'll concede on that.

On the bolded part, if the dev's keep their foot down on this decision, I could only hope how they have Steadfast working would be the same for spell casting. As that would be a nice tradeoff, not exactly wanted bar the circumstances, but nice.

On a final note, my opinion still stands, the removal of freedom to move and cast at the same time should not be done. If there is a grand scheme behind this, the Dev's should be more upfront on the reasoning on this. They should not just red text it within the patch notes without a DEV tag with no further explanation. If they are ready to remove this feature, we should not have to wait until v1.2x update to find out why, and not just ride along cause the Dev's said so.
