yeah but Apple mages are like that in all MMOs yet they still seem to be very good PvPers.Doesn't change the fact that mage is useless in PvP. Low armor, low health, has to stand still during combat, what's the point? Oh yeah! I can cast instant cast spells while running!!!!! All two of them... and three if burst counts.... but I have a feeling since thundara does really low damage without combo, so will burst.

In FF9, Eiko would jump around while casting spells, aka moved. Just because everyone else does it, doesn't mean this game has to do it. I think certain spells should require being still during cast, such as Burst, Freeze, Thundaga, and higher tier spells, but I don't think Fire should require being stationary. Either add in a trait allowing for its movement, but all spells being either instant cast or stationary cast is boring.
IMO, I won't play mage in pvp, because like in every other game, it is horrible and just gets instantly killed. I will just play a hard armored DoW or OP ARC.

but FF9 is not an MMO with PvP -.- I get it but coming from MMOs that did a lot of PvP I can see the reason why mages have to be stationary for all non insta cast spells for PvP and PvE.In FF9, Eiko would jump around while casting spells, aka moved. Thats a good point you have there... I think SE might have to implement either movement impairing insta cast spells or a haste like spell that makes a mage good at ruining.Doesn't change the fact that mage is useless in PvP. Seriously, Yoshi-P said right in his post that mages would be getting more insta-cast and CC spells.
Status Ailment Spells and Instant Cast Spells
For casting classes, we will be allocating status ailment spells to each class.
They will be given debuff spells ranging from the core: sleep, paralyze, bind, charm, and heavy to spells that will lower enemy’s stats and resistance to magic.
(We are also planning to add a lot of spells to the currently existing classes at the time of 2.0.)
By commanding these spells which are called “crowd control spells” or “debuffs” in the MMORPG world, you can prevent enemies from getting near you and by combining this with spells that deal damage, you can defeat them before they come in contact with you. This is the fundamental stance for playing a caster class.
Additionally, in order to deal with emergencies when enemies get close, casters will also be armed with instant cast spells. This type of magic has no casting time and as long as the recast timer is up you can just target and activate it in a flash. (There is also non-target AoE magic as well…)
However, in exchange for there being no casting time for these instant cast spells, they will be balanced with low damage for attack spells, low effect duration times for debuffs, be easily resisted, and have long recast timers.

I understand we should be getting new abilities in 2.0 but the patch note specifically said "* Moving will be made to interrupt spellcasting at a point in time between patch 1.20 and 1.21." so that explanation doesn't really help us in the meantime unless we are getting some of those spells before 2.0.

Still think this is a terrible idea that will not serve to improve this game in anyway.
Yoshida needs to stop fixing things that aren't broken.

plus: we already had the fundamental changes for DoW and DoM without Yoshi considering this type of nerf as necessary.
plus: THMs already have a hard time with their ridiculous spell cost.
plus (and i take another look at yoshi's words here in #595):
what debuffs?!
the debuffs that just were taken away?
i mean sure - go ahead and bring them back - but where to put 'em?
-> the Devs have just limited the skills on 15 for each class! /palm
okay no big deal let's just erase some more elemental spells from the list.

The skill limits were for this class revamp and obviously won't be a factor for the entirety of the game, especially when the level cap gets raised and we learn more.
It's a large enough change that they want to implement it ASAP so people can get used to it but they won't if they can't get it to work well with the current system. It balances out mages in more than just PVP settings and believe it or not there is an audience for PVP and if implemented well enough it could draw in new players, and that's always an improvement.

ok then adjust the casting abilities of the mages at the next level cap raise.
u talkin in plural. "mages". THM is concerned when it comes to Yoshi's plans (damage, high risk). not CNJ.
and it's not like THM has to be nerfed because it's the current overpowered super-class. (enmity, MP cost)
