I could not agree with you more.PvP is just gonna lead to everyone calling a class cheap and be nerfed.
Black Mage will get a big nerf, calling it right now.
"Wahhhh this black mage just hits me with Blizzara, to hit me with gravity."
"BLack Mage's combos are too powerful and almost kill me in one combo, nerf it."
I hate pvp, I will never do it/use it. But there will be lots of people who will complain and ask for jobs to be nerfed. it always happens. Frankly, I am tired of that bull shit. If this could be done it needs to be done like this: make pvp zones change the playstyle, like movement canceling, like an instance.
Soloing, I don't see a problem with how it is now. It's strategy and timing with a hint of luck (possible resists)
This, with all due respect to Yoshi for the long post, this will occur, and is still why I would like the ability to at least have some movement while casting. When playing Spiritmaster in Aion, I was always focus burned by the other team in Dredgion and there is nothing that can be done to survive it, even with Clerics cure bombing. When you are systematically the first target upon conflict, enjoy watching the event from a dead person point of view.PvP is just gonna lead to everyone calling a class cheap and be nerfed.

Absolutely. PvP has destroed and ruined MMOs since they started trying to put PvP in MMOs.PvP is just gonna lead to everyone calling a class cheap and be nerfed.

"(We are also planning to add a lot of spells to the currently existing classes at the time of 2.0.)"
Yoshi-P is my hero.
Yoshi-P is amazing... Such a nice, well detailed and well explained reasoning for 'moving interrupt spell casting'. People will be able to move and cast still, but they will be weaker and for running away while in danger. You get strong spells by standing still, which is how it should be. People are resistant to change and want to hold on to the past, because they know it. They are afraid of the future because it's the unknown. Also I see nothing wrong with PvP and I welcome it. Yoshi-P wants FFXIV 2.0 to appeal to everyone, to say that the game is ruined because of just PvP is kind of saddening.

I was sad to learn moving will interupt casting but it makes sense why he is doing it. As a caster in mmo's for yrs I never really thought of what kind of damage I could do if I were able to move...
... don't do it plz. but i request you make new action when runing and cast magic that look cool 'A'b cancel spell we can use tactic to stop it. but.. got overhate by mog... and can't run cast = dead trap!! so if you need this game that can look like action game or team play like monhunt or game multi player for team work. your should make healer can runing around to do his work in nightmare battle that your make.. orz

In other words, Yoshi-P, you want the game to be fundamentally like any other mmo. I understand this from a business sense. You guys have to make FFXIV successful. But this is not what I want.
I've been here this long, I'll give the changes a fair shake, but I don't see myself sticking around past 2.0.

Yoshi-P, thank you for providing such a detailed explanation for the plan to make movement cancel casting. And thank you also to whoever provided the English translation.
I was initially against the change, but this explanation makes sense, especially now that I understand how casting classes fit into the overall vision for the XIV battle system. An important point is that movement will immediately cancel casting, so you'll be able to start casting another spell as soon as you stop moving (rather than having a downtime "penalty" like in FFXI, where you had to either sit down or wait for the casting bar to fill up, completing the failed cast). Also, I like the idea of including some weaker "instant cast" spells. That should make things more interesting.
Careful consideration should be given to how long healers have to remain stationary, however. If they have to sit still for too long, it may make curing roaming parties more of a chore than it should be.
With that said, I feel much better now about the upcoming changes to spellcasting, and I look forward to the day when the new system is fully implemented. Thanks again for taking the time to explain all this.![]()

I'm glad he didn't listen to everyone on the forums for once. I know we all have our opinions and preferences but he made a good decision. He is thinking ahead and if you don't agree with what he said, you don't want balance in a game.
