Well i read reins translation and compared the two and @ the end of reins it says. The reason we are adding this feature is not just to be able to cancel spells. So i am guessing they are adding some flavor to mages spell castingReally, it sounds fairly straightforward.
You start casting. You move. You stop casting. You stop moving. You can start casting again right away.
It isn't a Chainspell effect, it's simply them telling you that you can start casting again right away with only the slight delay caused by the typical MMO lag.
EDIT:
You could cast while moving, but then you took an arrow to the knee, and must stand still.

I still move to try to cancel my spell ( Damn you XI habits! ) and find this to be a good idea, now if only we had a toggle option so everyone can stay happy.

To be more on topic though(Copy/Pasted from my post on Eorzeapedia):
Movement canceling spell casting is an old concept and is widely accepted as a standard for many MMO/RPGs; However; in a more action oriented environment such as XIV where movement is key (would be more important if lag was not an issue.) I feel that being able to move while casting would play into the style better than stationary casting. XI got away with stationary casting because the battle system was not nearly as action oriented. There really was no constant movement other than the fights that required kiting, and even then for the most part Mages could stand in the middle of the kiting area and reach their target just fine. XIV's Ifrit battle is a shining example of why stationary casting (and animation lock) are counter intuitive of the battle system and style of play they are trying to create.

I support putting anything that belongs in 2.0 early, it helps us get used to the game quicker
im really wondering if this could possibly speed up the nuking process.
obviously it could possibly mean that your next spell is fired off immediately without a charge time if you move as a few have stated.
however, if this is true then id imagine you'd have to have a certain amount already charged from your previous spell in order for your next spell to fire off immediately. this information would probably be saved in some sort of que system or something server side.
if this is the case, then im all for it.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
Howdy!
Some of you may be thinking, who is this guy? Sorry for my lack of appearance on the FFXIV forums![]()
Just wanted to clarify something that Yoshi-P mentioned, which was incorrectly translated. I have already corrected the original post, but wanted to re-post it here for you all to see.
Apologies for the mix up!We are currently performing tests by changing the process from a script to hard-coding. Please note that if we are unable to achieve the results that we want, we will not implement the feature forcefully. With the current server state, we noticed a lag when we cast spells. Are you sure there won’t be a bigger lag than 0.3 seconds when cancelling a spell via movement?
Your not Bay or Ruk, I want my updates from them!Howdy!
