    Sch Pet ability update (idea)

With SB coming out and the ability to toggle/ switch the ranks of abilitys can we get a 2 button swap on Eos and Selenes main abilitys? Link Whispering Dawn with Fey Wind and Fey Covenant with Fey Caress? This way I can stop moving the buttons every time I switch pets.

Just make a macro to activate each. For instance:

    /ac "Fae Wind"
    /ac "Whispering Dawn"

When you hit the button, it tries to activate both, which activates the ability for the faerie you have out.

As someone who mains SCH, I'll be blunt: Macros are awesome once you get the hang of using them.

I macro Embrace to my single target heals, so when I toss one, the faerie does too. This is especially useful with Adloquium as it's a 300 potency heal with a 300 potency shield, meaning without using emergency tactics, you don't heal as much actual HP as you may want to. I also macro my damage spells to attack my target's target so I don't have to retarget to heal the tank.

I set up my spells as such.

    /ac "spellname" <f> (focus target)
    /ac "spellname" <tt> (target's target)
    /ac "spellname" <t> (target)

This has you spell try to hit the focus target first, then your target's target, then your target.

You can also macro Sacred Soil as such.

    /ac "Sacred Soil" <t>

That way you don't have to aim it. It casts on your target. You can do the same for shadow flare, but use <tt> instead

Macros are powerful tools, learn to use them.

    Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu don't do that =(

I got thrown into the covering for a SCH for the week in a team aiming for server firsts after having done the majority of SCOB and FCOB progression as WHM. My BCOB era macro setup was kind of similar to yours and with the better understanding we had of how macros work by 3.0 it very quickly became clear that this setup would cost me dearly on personal throughput.

The best demonstration I can put forward is to macro broil and simply spam it on a dummy for 2 minutes, then repeat but with a regular hotkey'd action rather than the macro.

I can't remember the exact math, but it's in the region of 5-10% more casts within the same time period with macros vs without. That's incredibly huge imo. *edit* Just to clarify, I believe the main reason for this disparity is due to macros not queueing nicely although that might not be the whole story.

These days I use my keyboard's software to simulate gamepad presses to manage and direct my embrace spam, you can also influence her auto embracing by trying to keep her as close to the tank as you can safely manage.

You can use a Macro to replace certain commands on your hot bar, including pet commands. So I have a macro that summons Eos and at the same time it replaces three slots in my hotbar for the pet abilities. When I summon Selene, it replaces the same three slots with the respective equal level abilities.

Here's a list of Macro commands. The command you want it /hotbar which is under the "hotbar" sub menu on the left.

So in essence your macros will look something like

    /ac "Summon" <me>
    /hotbar pet "Whispering Dawn" 1 1

    AND

    /ac "Summon II" <me>
    /hotbar pet "Fey Wind" 1 1

Adjust as needed. I'm not sure if that's the exact syntax so I'll review my macros when I get home and paste them if no one else provides a response.

It's still a macro but you're at least not using your pet skills on macros but instead using a summon macro to modify your hotbar to incorporate the appropriate pet abilities.

It'd be nice if the SCH pets could have an ultimate Enkindle action like SMN ones. Of course they would have to be supportive to the party, like protects everyone against a single ailment for 10s maybe or does something similar to a single AST card etc on everyone. Definitely would find more use than Dissipation, which seems a bit wasted at the moment from lack of use I think.

Random bump since these are the Selene and Eos summoning macros I use.

    Eos
    /macroicon Summon
    /ac Summon
    /hotbar pet Whispering Dawn 9 6
    /hotbar pet Fey Covenant 9 5
    /hotbar pet Fey Illumination 9 4
    Selene
    /macroicon Summon II
    /ac "Summon II"
    /hotbar pet Silent Dusk 9 6
    /hotbar pet Fey Caress 9 5
    /hotbar pet Fey Wind 9 4
