I don't mind that the cash shop exists but in a p2p game there should be an alternative way to get the items in game even if it's very hard to get.

FFXIV does nessecitate alts if you want to have more then 1 main job for progression under the current loot system

I figured that would have been covered under the 'There are/have been items I want on the mogstation and I have purchased them.' category since I figured you are either ok with the pricing or you wanted the item enough to bypass a price you weren't thrilled with. Will keep it in mind if I ever do another poll though.

It's interesting to see that after the first 100 votes it's stayed relatively the same percentages (keeping in mind some people may have wanted to vote in multiple categories or didn't find one that exactly matched). Thank you all for taking the time to vote or explaining what choice you would have made if it was available!

None of these really cover my position. There are items on the Mogstation that I want and I have bought some. The price is a bit high, but doesn't really bother me. What bothers me is that the relative volume of new additions to the cash shop when compared to relative new additions to the game of similar items in the same time period is astronomical. I'll pay $7 for an emote, but I don't want to be paying $7 for an emote every month while none or virtually none are being added to the game. Furthermore, the only reason I'm willing to pay $7 for an emote that is limited to one character is because the design of the game is such that I have no desire for alts.

Even SWTOR with its hybrid cash shop-sub model gives subscribers free cash shop currency that they can save up to buy stuff they want without spending additional real money.

Those are the prices for WoW's Cash Shop. They are all either nearly equal to or more expensive than FFXIV. Why would Square Enix charge a third of the price when people buy everything rather consistently?

For what it's worth, not only are those helmets account-wide, but despite being some of the oldest items in the cash shop, they're almost certainly some of the least widely owned.

SE might have calculated interest poorly. They probably settled on a price based off expected interest verse profit off investment. They might actually make more selling the items for a lower price.

I feel again I should probably point out, since it was on that list of options, Sub fees don't pay for the development of Cash Shop exclusive glamours. The sales of the items on the cash shop pay for the development costs. If they weren't on the cash shop, we wouldn't have gotten them ingame at all. That is the reason we are yet to see a Krile coat glamour, despite demand. The person responsible for greenlighting development for Mogstation items wasn't sure it would pay itself off due to the fact the Krile coat is technically challenging to adapt for other races.

Voted! Paid for items despite thinking they're overpriced (although my actual gripe is that despite the value, the items themselves are not account-wide - so for a single character, they are in fact overpriced).

Nice poll by the way... It's a fairly nice way to get a notion of different opnions without actively baiting and inciting overly heated arguments thumbs up for that
