Be aware those are all account wide items that are accessible to all of your characters on an account vs FFXIV's pricing it per character.
The wording on the choices is very particular. Maybe when making a poll don't add so much wording to the choices. I would've put myself down for more things if the additional comments about the choices were not added.
It also makes the OP sound like they are against the Mog Station having these items because of how many particular comments in the choices about it. Need to keep the poll more impartial to get the best results. Also, don't release it when everyone is hot-headed, that will also cloud the results.
I was slightly lowballing it in my original post, however...
GW2 outfits are actually 700 gems, which actually comes out to $8.75. All of their costume stuff unlocks account-wide.
I can't check the exact price of Rift items (game is in maintenance atm), but I recall them being ~$7-8. They also unlock account-wide.
WildStar costumes are 790 Protobucks, which is roughly $7 as well. And... again, account-wide.
These games all also have a way to store item appearances without cluttering your inventory, which makes purchasing them appealing. Even more, not only are they b2p/f2p, but you can actually obtain the outfits without ever spending real money. GW2 lets you purchase gems with gold; Rift does the same with plat. WildStar puts an Omnibit price on everything in the store, which is a currency you earn by playing the game at a pretty decent rate.
I very much dislike the mogstation. I've made that clear on multiple occasions, but I tried to make the choices as impartial as possible, putting in the viewpoints I saw coming up in multiple threads. The wording on the choices is very particular. Because WoW practically necessitates alts. If you want to play a different class, you have to create a whole new character and level from the ground up. Conversely, there is no reason to have an alt in FFXIV unless you're a roleplayer or want to get around the loot and specialist restrictions. Considering most players don't have more than two retainers per Yoshida himself, I doubt many have alts. Therefore, the devs probably don't see it as a big deal.
I don't mind that the cash shop exists but in a p2p game there should be an alternative way to get the items in game even if it's very hard to get.
FFXIV does nessecitate alts if you want to have more then 1 main job for progression under the current loot system

to see a true cross section of opinion, you need to include the option that you purchase and you think the pricing is reasonable as well.
None of these really cover my position. There are items on the Mogstation that I want and I have bought some. The price is a bit high, but doesn't really bother me. What bothers me is that the relative volume of new additions to the cash shop when compared to relative new additions to the game of similar items in the same time period is astronomical. I'll pay $7 for an emote, but I don't want to be paying $7 for an emote every month while none or virtually none are being added to the game. Furthermore, the only reason I'm willing to pay $7 for an emote that is limited to one character is because the design of the game is such that I have no desire for alts.
Even SWTOR with its hybrid cash shop-sub model gives subscribers free cash shop currency that they can save up to buy stuff they want without spending additional real money.
For what it's worth, not only are those helmets account-wide, but despite being some of the oldest items in the cash shop, they're almost certainly some of the least widely owned.https://us.battle.net/shop/en/product/game/wow
Those are the prices for WoW's Cash Shop. They are all either nearly equal to or more expensive than FFXIV. Why would Square Enix charge a third of the price when people buy everything rather consistently?

I figured that would have been covered under the 'There are/have been items I want on the mogstation and I have purchased them.' category since I figured you are either ok with the pricing or you wanted the item enough to bypass a price you weren't thrilled with. Will keep it in mind if I ever do another poll though.
It's interesting to see that after the first 100 votes it's stayed relatively the same percentages (keeping in mind some people may have wanted to vote in multiple categories or didn't find one that exactly matched). Thank you all for taking the time to vote or explaining what choice you would have made if it was available!

If these were the prices, I probably would have bought a lot off the mog station. What I consider more fair is something like 5$ per outfit, 10$ for account wide. 1$ per emote, 3$ for account wide. I would buy it for that, honestly. It's hard to resist it as it is because I reaaaally want all 3 of those beautiful 18$ outfits quite a bit. But I was below the poverty line for most my life so I really value my money much too much to frivelously spend it on 18$ virtual shirt and pants when there is so much more that is far more worth it.
Atm I have a couple of things that were gifts. 3 carby lamps (valentines gift) and the /playdead (birthday gift)
