That makes the most sense to meThat's what it says in my language, and seriously, that's the only thing making any sense at all, because otherwise, how would you be using Protect at all after R24? After all, the overwriting is from a passive trait, so Protect would ALWAYS become Shell.
I think it's just formulated badly, and what actually is meant is that the original Protect effect, which only increased physical def will be overwritten with the new effect which increases both physical and magical def.
That may be what it says in your language, but I'm telling you what it says in Japanese, the original language. Perhaps it's a Japanese typo then. That's what it says in my language, and seriously, that's the only thing making any sense at all, because otherwise, how would you be using Protect at all after R24? I know what it says in Japanese, that's why I said it's formulated badly.
Read the last sentence you quoted again to understand what was presumably meant with "overwriting".
Otherwise, sure, go on and explain how the original Protect effect of enhancing the physical defense can be gained after rank 24![]()

Shell is still in the game, guys. [item=3020502]Ironwill Unguent[/item]

It's weird it doesn't say it in French but we have that at the same place in the Note.
[dev1288] Le bouton permettant de changer l’aire d’effet des sorts a été supprimé.
En conséquence, la commande texte /areaofeffect a également été supprimée.
It says:
The button that allows you to change the area of effect of spells has been removed.
Thus, the text command /areaofeffect has been removed too.
We have that info and you have the Protect/Shell info. The Notes are really different from country to country. Weird.
Mistranslation or not, I hope they don't really do this.

This and other details, such as distance not being relevant for an accuracy bonus for archer or spell AoE shape for thaumaturge, are really confusing me. We can only hope this is in preparation for a better system and not a complete removal altogether. However, if it is like monster behaviour that was taken away several months ago and we still don't have it back today, it might take ages before we see the end of it.
Can we be enlightened about these changes?
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

The casting Aoe seems better now Instead of nuking stuff with a cone effect, nuking with a huge circle aoe effect is much betterThis and other details, such as distance not being relevant for an accuracy bonus for archer or spell AoE shape for thaumaturge, are really confusing me. I have a friend that fell in love with thaumaturge for the cone effect. I, too, was enjoying the different AoE. Cone being more offensively oriented while circle AoE defensive for party. It was combat dynamic, now it's being oversimplified again... they could just have shown the area of effect on the screen instead.

it was not really combat dynamic at all the cone shape casting limited some spells like sleep, sometimes the cone effect could not hit everything you needed, also why can't both classes have all 3 line cone and circle Aoe effects.I have a friend that fell in love with thaumaturge for the cone effect.
