    That's nearly double.

    Mind you, these are one or two years out of date, but I doubt it's changed terribly much.
    That being said, each product is allotted a finite budget they are expected to stay within.
    True as that is, the company is ultimately the one who decides how that's split, and they can change that at any time. This is all perfectly within their power and scope.

    Not necessarily. No company focuses the bulk of their budget on a single product. Keep in mind, A Realm Reborn was intended as little more than salvage after Sqaure nearly went under. They weren't going to allocate significant funds until XIV proved viable, which is why Stormblood supposedly has a substantially higher budget than Heavensward did. The Cash Shop has been a way XIV makes money for itself. Our subs pay for development of patch content and into other SE products like FFXV and FFVII: Remake.
